I have great respect for Mr Frank Warwick's and historical fishing knowledge but for myself l make my own bait and just use the simple hair rig and have success at every lake l fish good health to you Mr Warwick

I could listen to Frank all day long. Yes please more rig talks with the history. Also, have you tried lead wire wrapped around the bend instead of a shot (the old Nash stuff,or the inside of leadcore]? Also, reverse hair, trapped by the lead wire. Cheers, Scott

Frank once have your book and your thoughts on rigs and tim paisley's on bait stand up to closest scrutiny but I have a question that I cannot get my head around ...because I believe 100% that every hair rig has the same problem that of the fact the bait is attached to the hook is also its weakness to hooking efficency the ejection force on the bait causes that thereby inhibiting the efficency of the hook . So the simple process of taking the bait off the hook makes my hammerpoint rig more efficient than any hair rig ....what compounds the issues is people think that I'm referring also to rigs like the chod which is not trying to catch on a sucking and blowing carp ..like a ronnie which also requires the carp to tilt . My rig is a detached bait rig .and it is more efficient on the basis if the hook goes in it doesn't come out .All of that is irrelevant if you don't concede that the fatal flaw of a hair rig is the hair . I would love somebody of my era of your status share his views on that thought 😊

Top man Frank. I use those 'trumpets' in another couple of rigs but never thought of using it like this on a barbless hooks. One of my clubs have just introduced a barbless hook only rule so now I can fish legally 🤪🤪🤪. Great thinking again Mr Warwiick

Its much easier now down to experienced help from guys like you that anglers can be successful in their fishing much quicker than we were back in the 80's! Love it that when the next trendy rig comes to the front, Anglers feel the need to come out and say "i was using this rig 50 years ago". We all know there is no wonder rig and the angling media go round in circles with these rigs, trends etc. Usually pushed by tackle conpanies to make you have rig boxes full of every component out there. We all know a knottless knotted boilie will catch a carp effectively..... but that doesnt sell countless products does it. Mugs game this angling lark. ..... well. .... for those who cant see it for what it is, that is.

Tungsten putty is the way forward i think for molding on bend of hook, dosnt move till it needs to, when hooking a fish and shot on braid looks clumsy like it could tangle around leader on cast or after a pick up or catch on lake debris on bottom but i dont think it be long before theres a hook on market with a weight molded to bend below point. Like the barble hooks used for rolling meat on rivers, and frank is a true legend in the game and not all about selling u the latest tackle tart shit when he speaks i listen ❤

Very interesting rig. My observation: we have lots of snags, sunken tree limbs, rocks,etc. in our local venue. Seems the hook with the point down would tend to hang up more frequently than a regular rig. I do wish people who do closed captions would be aware of the terms and spelling on videos. Not only this one but any YT video.

Great video 👍. Future rig question. Chod rig is something I tend to avoid however I hear its good for long range given its simple make up however with fishing at range tend to use tight lines but will this suit a chod rig given alot of people seem to fish it slack? Also os there a way of setting it up safely when using a shock leader? Keep the videos coming 👍👍

One thing that’s puzzling to me is why I have no problem in hooking a carp on long curved shank wide gape or short curved wide gape hook But 9 out of 10 carp shed the hook in the landing net as they rest? Why is this happening.? I’m fishing with micro barbed hooks. I’ve tried straight and curved points but still the same. I suppose it’s a good thing that the carp can get rid of the hook I use mostly size 4 hooks.

It's all a load of bollox standard knotless hair rigs hook just as many fish, the most important part of any rig is the hook itself, everybody these day's are so drawn in by all the bollox of rig mechanics. "It's got to do this here and turn there" a good hook pattern with a sharp point is all you need, don't get me wrong I've got a ton of respect for Frank Warwick, Terry hearn, Nigel Sharp and many more they all fiddled about with rigs and if one or the other felt it gave them an edge that's great but dosent necessary make it so, now with the massive annual turnover the fishing industry has we are all quick to buy this that and the other based on what these guy's believe, the best quote we've all heard it " you've caught a tench" tench are notoriously difficult to hook so your rigs must be be spot on 😂😂😂 Tench are notoriously difficult to hook when float fishing on the bottom because you've got to be quick to strike the second your float up end's it's got sweet FA to do with ledgering bottom baits, anyway good luck to all of you with your bit's and Bob's I'm sure you'll all be catching it's just ironic that if every angler on the lake is using a popup on a ronnie rig all the fish get caught on a popup on a ronnie rig no shit sherlock, I wonder if korda will release an episode of underwater carp fishing the knotless knot, split cane and centre pin edition how to catch the bishop 101 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Love the rig, loads of respect for Frank but please barbless hooks, they don't slide, they don't make big holes, it's all bollox, used barbless for 30 years (unless rules state different) it's the angler that causes the problems and being a bailiff for my local club It's frightening watching some people getting barbed hooks out, they definitely cause more damage!

Rubbish I've seen myself when using a barbless hook what damage they do to a fish's mouth where it moves & rips the flesh I rather use a microbarb or barbed hook cos it's set & can't move around but I do agreed with you it's down to the angler on getting out of the fish's mouth

Can see why the rig works but any decent rig would work just as well if you have a true back of the mouth hook bait . Don’t even think the rig comes into place then . There eating it end of . Anglers are missing a massive edge by using just an off the shelf tub of wafters let’s say . Nothing stand out about them at all , and I’m not on about colour . if your bait is sat with a load of other free offerings . You could be sat there all week end for 1 fish
