You're looking at some of the best musicians ever to cross the face of earth. The Fowlers and Underwoods, George Duke, Jean-Luc Ponty, Ralph Humphry. Zappa played with dozens of musicians, all the best at their instrument.

You likely will never hear anyone produce music like Frank Zappa. He was a different breed of artist. What I love the most about his songs are that they tell a story. Do not read me a story, instead, play me a Frank Zappa song. I’ll figure it out eventually. Thank you.

Did I tell you... or did I tell you... keep up the Zappa and you're going to have a huge support. And the more strange or obscure the song is... the more they will like it... now... In this moment, I am struggling with money, so I won't be able to make requests. HOWEVER... I would like to SUGGEST :-) a song... it is a song that has almost all of Frank Zappa's different styles in one song....(almost) the name of the song is "Drowning Witch" it has Frank's weird funny vocals... it has the complicated interludes with Xylophone... it has the great musicians laying down the funk... and most of all it has not one, but TWO completely different syles of back to back guitar solo's by Frank. It's over 12 minutes long. So I don't know if you want to go that far down the rabbit hole yet, but if you're brave... it's a hot one.

August 1973. I was in high school. This was in Stockholm, Sweden. It was quite cold. Zappa complained that there were several wrong notes due to that. I was in the audience(!), outdoor. And it was part of recording a Swedish TV program. Several songs was released on vinyl much later so this was a "new" Frank Zappa. Me and my friends was realy amazed. So different from the early experimental music, the jazz rock period, the theatrical period with Flo and Eddie, and now this! The Bee Bop Tango was not released until a year later on (Roxy and Elsewhere). That tango was in my mind on the way home.

Zappa made a business out of getting some of the best musicians together and bringing out the beasts in them. The whole idea of rock is supposed to be freedom, rebellion, and doing whatever the hell you want, but Zappa took approached it with the seriousness of a conductor leading the London Symphony Orchestra or Berlin Philharmoniker.

Frank never did drugs...100% on that. He didn't care what they did on their days off. As long as it wasn't picking up a heroin habit...🤦‍♂️... Then.. Their out. Your right Frank cared about the guys in all his many bands. He insisted on them being sober for the show, after that he didn't care what they did as long as they weren't letting it effect the music. Most of those guys didn't do drugs anyways besides weed and beer.

If you liked this try Stink Foot or Zombie Wolf. Pretty much anything off Apostrophe or Over Night Sensation among many many other songs. He only has the best musicians in his band The keyboards was George Duke - nominated for 7 grammys and winning 2. the two he won were for vocals and had it not been for Zappa pushing him to sing more that never happens. Jean Luc Ponty is the greatest electric violinist ever IMO. Listen to 50/50 off Over Night - truly amazing. He singlehandedly introduced violin to jazz. His work with Duke and with Mahavishnu Orchestra is off the charts. He has also worked with artists like Al Di-meola and Stanley Clarke. Steve Vai (one of he best rock/jazz guitarists ever) talks about being auditioned by Zappa. I will let him tell the story - here is the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqmUg5qrfaZnjqc
