I'd always assumed that this song was in response to a song called In Paris they kiss on Main Street.

I believe the song is "Free Man in Paris", but I use that line when I sing the song. ("In France they kiss on Main Street, amour mama, not cheap display").

A few Zappa recommendations: "The Torture Never Stops" (live) "Cosmik Debris" "Titties & Beer" "Black Napkins" (Yugoslavia 1975 live is my fav, but all versions are good) "Penguin in Bondage" (from Roxy & Elsewhere live) "Help, I'm a Rock" (1968 live at the Whiskey)

"Montana" or "Inca Roads" from 1974 "A Token of His Extreme" at the Roxy Theater are both amazing live performances.

Haha, I think he had some problems in France in the seventies, don't remember exactly what, but I think he went out of a gig before even playing because the public pissed him off. I saw him in France in the early 80. He was amazing but way too loud.

You mean his guitar was too loud ?

@@Alix777. Not only his guitar the whole sound, I've been to a lot of concerts but this one was so loud that I wen out and listened it from outside. A shame.
