40 or so years ago I worked in a full serve gas station and was playing The Doors on a radio/cassette when a well dressed woman told me I should not be playing that where children could hear it because they played drug music. There was nobody else around. So I stopped the tape and put on Why Does It Hurt When I Pee? from Joe's Garage. She just turned around and left.

He's parodying a garage band starting out learning to play songs, so he plays the song as if they were just starting to play. The cops show up because the neighbor called the law on them because the music was too loud.

The song is I think, great nostalgia for Zappa; of a time when people would play for fun (or girls). The music industry destroyed the fun for this group. At the time Zappa had a group of songs with no real connection so he devised one: connecting each song with a plot read by the ""Central Scrutinizer". As a listener I was always annoyed by that whispering voice but I loved most of the songs on what became the concept albums of Joe's Garage: A musician who lives in a world where music is banned. Months you reacted on the beautiful "Watermelon in Easter Hay". That's the musician Joe, imagining his last guitar solo. It's hard to pick up on Zappa in little pieces but I can see that you are trying.
