Tone, timing, phrasing, innovation. Stunning, and a painfully beuitful song. To day, too much is about speed.

And prolific. Huge fan, yet not many people feel the same way.

This is my favorite guitar-related object of any length. Its not a guitar solo, it an impassioned speech.

The track "Occam's Razor" is a guitar solo( hypnotic and gigantic ,with a little bit of Toto "hold the line"!) extract from a live version of the song "Inca Roads"(recorded in a performance in Germany 1979) The solo was used in the song "On The Bus" from the album Joe's Garage. This is an example of Zappa's Xenochrony technique.( others have used this technique, since: king Crimson, the guitarist Buckethead and more...) The drummer on this track is Vinnie Colaiuta ! Soon your hundredth reaction to Frank Zappa!!!

Incredible When you know Franks music as we do This is a great example to see how Xenochrony worked Frank literally took the physical tape ( this is pre digital ) and took a scissors to the cut and edited them for length of for whatever reason The found Drum and bass tracks from other performance and joined them all together Joes Garage is like CGI for your ears Vinnie was considered by most as Franks most talented drummer

@JesseM - Those weren't "found" drum and bass parts. Frank placed the live guitar solo over the studio track he recorded during the making of the Joe's Garage album.

For a little context into Frank's improvisational freedom, this solo, which clocks in at 9 minutes is just the solo from a song that, on the original album, only lasts just a little under 9 minutes in total. When Frank was in the mood to just keep playing, he did just that. I'm pretty certain that he either gave a nod to the rest of the band that it was time for them to come back in for the written part, or he played a particular phrase to end the solo that the band recognized to be the end. Either way, the solo was always the high points in Zappa concerts and this lengthy solo is a prime example of that.
