Greetings Rory Frank Zappa was one of the most favourite artists of my father, he has got several albums of him, in fact he told me that Frank unlike other musicians of his era his lyrics were so controversial critising politically correctly things and censorships in order to defend the freedom of speech, he was so creative he wrote his own song, he directed films and music videos. If he was still alive he'd had almost 82 years old a versatile musician, thanks🎸👍👌🎼🎶🇪🇸👏🏻

On bass you hear Patrick O'Hearn. And on drums it's Terry Bozzio.

This is only the first half of the solo. The full version may still be available in uploads of the ROIO of the concert in question (last night of the winter '76-'77 tour).

I have always had one issue with this song. I don't mean to ruin you're liking the song. It IS a great solo from a great album... BUT... there is something you should know. That audience that is clapping at the start of Frank's solo on this song... is not for Frank. It is for a violin solo that just finished that was cut out by Eddie Jobson. Eddie for some reason, was barely ever acknowledged as a member of Frank's band.(eddie should get back) He cut Eddie out of most of Live in New York and COMPLETELY eliminated an excellent violin solo in this song, and USED him on the cover of Zoot Allures because he looked "young", but didn't feature him, on the album, even though he was a member at that moment. Frank was a genius, and there are very few musicians or composers that compare with him... but... sometimes... he was a dick. lol. Another version of Eddie doing his solo was eventually released, but not by Frank.

Well… you might be right as to other instances, but in this particular one, the track is on an album called Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar Some More, which as its title indicates, is devoted exclusively to Frank playing the guitar, there are no solos by any other player in the entire album(s) whatsoever ;)

@@dago87able right, and it just so happens that he never released another version with Eddie--- EVER. . As I said before, it only came out after he was dead. I understamd what you are saying. In THIS album it wouldn't make sense to have an Eddie Jobson solo. But I'm still calling Frank out on this one. He definitely had some knid of problem with Eddie Jobson. Not because he cut him off of this recording, but because he never put ANY example of Jobson GREAT violin playing ANYWHERE. I don't think that is coincidental. And also... none of this changes the fact that the audience at the start of this song is clapping for a violin solo you never heard

@@wowwhywow I assume he probably didn’t like his solos for some reason, I can’t imagine any other explanation. However you can hear his violin on several tracks (Läther for instance), just not soloing. In fact I believe the keyboard solo on Läther (I promise not to come in your mouth in Zappa in New York) is Eddie’s, if I’m not mistaken, which would only add to the mystery..

@@dago87able you can hear him on Live in New york, but...lol... exceptf or two notes in Back Bage...wouldn't you agree he's down in the mix? Frank did not like how violinists took solos in his music in general. He makes fun of them in his auto biography...sooo...

@@wowwhywow I don’t know what you’re talking about man, why would he hire them in the first place? Frank loved Sugar Cane Harris’ playing and he’s featured a lot; Jean Luc maybe less, but he shows off for instance in fifty-fifty. I don’t know why it’s different with Eddie, but as I said, the more plausible reason to me would be a musical one.
