well, I woke up in a bad mood... started listening to depressing music and somehow ended up on Frank. Now all of my troubles have disappeared, the sun is shining and everything is Peaches en Regalia. God bless this awesome human.

Frank Zappa was not only one of the best guitarists of the 60's, 70's and 80's but was completely underrated as one of the best lyricists of all times. He could and did shake the establishments idea of what music should be. RIP Frank Zappa, we have your recordings, but still they aren't the same as you being here.

It's mainly just random bs. How can you call what he played 90% of the time, music? This is the first semi-normal song I've heard from him. And even it's a gimmick. Much like his playing.

I have a theory about Franks music and the Internet… the vast majority of people are only now discovering the range of stuff he created - I mean the sheer volume and diversity is frightening yet awe inspiring its like only now with today’s “media” is the man really being “Heard” and No I haven't been smoking :-)

Thank you! I know Zappa recorded thousands of hrs of stuff but the playing on WTP was/is mind-blowing... I guess I am biased because I happen to love the general guitar picking style of 1969, but, for me, WTP stands out and equals anything Hendrix ever did...

Yeah,I love Hendrix but I have alway's thought Zappa had the upper hand in skill set. To me he was WAY more flexible with his style. And brought more to the table for my palate to enjoy. But to each his own as they say.😉

Well this is clearly a LIVE performance. Look up Live At The Ark Boston 68' It's a great set complete with a King Kong ending!! The song was originally recorded in the studio(based off the couple places I checked) in 1969 however they still were playing it prior to that recording, which was for a single and is different then the one on Weasels. I first listened to this this when I was like 15 and had to find where it was from and I came up with the Ark. It's even listed on zappa.com.

Frank had them rehearse virtually every song in multitudes of styles so, with a signal they had been trained to understand, he could switch it to blues or a boogie or reggae or whatever he wanted - and they could do it flawlessly.

There are literally thousands of hours of unreleased masters in the Zappa vaults - there are over a hundred Zappa albums out there - too bad he didn't record more? Nobody in the history of recording has taped as much stuff as Zappa. A hundred hours of Z. in u-tube alone. Wiki had to reformat just to accommodate the Zappa legacy. Frank likes those who do the research.

No disrespect to Zappa. Cheers for the replies (the nice one's anyway). I KNOW he recorded a LOT of stuff, LMAO! I'll reiterate. I merely suggested that, in an age where acid guitar rock was king with the likes of Hendrix, Vanilla Fudge, James Gang, etc, it would have been awesome if Frank had recorded an album loaded with "studio cuts" like the above, WTP and more distorted freakouts instead of the tripe he was churning out in 1969. Nineteen-Sixty-Nine! I meant in THAT year not later on...

It's all relative. Yes, I certainly have heard Hot Rats. I stand by my guns. It's movie music apart from WTP. And that's all I was saying. If Zapper had spent less time recording avant garde shit and more time recording stuff like WTP he might have produced a truly awesome rock record. In 1969. I'm not talking about later on. I personally enjoy late sixties heavy rock. With WTP Zapper proved he could wig-out with the very best. I absolutely loved the axe playing on WTP.........

>avant garde shit Oh, you mean Frank Zappa was doing something way different and original compared to the fairly samey hard rock scene of the late 60s? Yeah fuck that, he should have just sounded like everyone else! Zappa didn't want to be put along with those groups on purpose. He wanted to be a composer, not just a rock musician. His work around this time ("Peaches en Regalia," "Holiday in Berlin") are some of the most challenging and brilliant works of the 60s by way of their originality.
