J'ai mis longtemps à retrouver ce fantastique morceau. Zappa est un alien.

I was listening to this cut, wondering why the sax is so distorted, then I got to the end and heard record noise and realized that the reason it is so distorted is that it is a vinyl rip. So much for superior sound through vinyl….

Could also be a copyright thing maybe

That has more to do with whoever made the vinyl recording. Rather how they did it. Having gain set too high somewhere.

@@ManicMovesDrowsyDreams You could ask Frank ????

It's inner groove distortion either from the record being cut really hot or the guy that did the rip had a shitty needle.

Same here - there was a period in the UK when there was lots of Zappa vinyl in the shops. I bought this, Franceso Zappa, Boulez Conducts Zappa, Mothers of Prevention and Them or Us all around the same time, plus I had Cocaine Decisions on 7 inch. Sold them all for buttons :-( I kept One Size Fits All, Sleep Dirt and Roxy and Elsewhere and wish I’d kept the rest. I even sold the Thing Fish box. I liked listening to a lot of this stuff, though, even though it wasn’t winning any critics over. Even stuff like The Radio is Broken had its moments, and I’m always singing The Dangerous Kitchen to myself when cooking or making coffee!!

Zappa fan from the 60s, but I don't think I've heard this before. The cues and the percussion are there, but I don't hear a good melody... as I always expected from him. I was living off grid in a low cash/sustainable agriculture environment. Off grid. Wood heat. Batteries. Our best music came from a distant FM radio station on weekends... KUNI. Long may she blare. Grieg and Sibelius aren't up to it, my needs, as fine as they are. But we had Bob Potter. A real journalist.

Almost a defensive chart, imho. He's not taking it to the audience. No clue about his futile political stuff, but this seems like a sad, futile, political thing... despite the patent musical genius. Shut up an' sing, most of you Srsly. We love your talent!!! Your opinions are irrelevant.

@@grantbratrud4949 Zappa definitely got way too political in his later 80s material for my liking. I don't need someone to tell me why religions are silly or televangelists are corrupt, or maybe that Ronald Reagan isn't so great.

It sound like a TV theme, although I can’t imagine what sort of show - perhaps a goofy comedy. I agree with American Virtual too - I picked up The Last US Concert box set recently - some incredible playing, but mired by constant references to Jimmy Swaggart and Jim n Tammy. He could have channelled that stuff better - wrote an opera like Thing Fish with properly drawn comedic characters but the humour is lazy
