I love how Larry doesn't fear the monster when he sees him for the first time and actually helps him get out of the ice. Just goes to show how much of a kind heart he has and understanding since he himself turns into a monster.

The monster in that scene was a stunt actor named Gil Perkins (note the cleft in the chin). Bela Lugosi would only appear as the monster for maybe 20 minutes throughout the film.

He would have been a great choice for full role, looks powerful and fearsome. I like Bela's scene on the charging table though when he twitches and smiles maniacally.

Well it's been said that Bela Lugosi as the Frankenstein monster during this scene was replaced with stunt double Edwin Parker while another stunt double Gil Perkins replaced Bela once it came to the monsters battling climax before the dam blew up. And yet other sources said that it's the other way around. But who knows as too bad that I'm only 56 meaning that the movie was made 20 years before I was born. LMFAO 😂🤣😂🤣

It's Parker there. Perkins was in those fight scenes at the end. Eddie Parker also later played the Mummy in A&C Meet The Mummy.

Karloff was the best monster but I gotta give props to Glenn Strange. He made a magnificent monster too!
@Starward-
@Starward- Жыл бұрын
Long ago, too long for me to remember now where, I read that Strange said, years later, that Karloff coached him on how to be the Monster. This was during Strange's first stint as the Monster on House of Frankenstein, in which Karloff took the lead as the "Mad Scientist." He said that Karloff stayed on the set late to give him tips on the part. Imagine even a few moments with the Great Karloff, hearing about how he created the role in 1931 and expanded it in 1935. They tell me that, on the set of The Shining, Kubrick's daughter saw Jack Nicholson marking his script in what appeared to be an unusual way, and she asked about it. He told her that when he made his first film, The Terror (with Karloff) in 1964, Karloff had showed him a way of marking his scripts, a technique Karloff had developed during the filming of the first Frankenstein and subsequently. Nicholson said that having learned that from Karloff, he never deviated from it, and it had never failed to be effective for him.

I certainly understand the position of all the Karloffians out there with the pathos and superb acting, but Glenn Strange is the Frankenstein Monster who scared and impressed me as a kid, such an imposing figure, and his overall visage was the main grist for merchandising during my childhood. It's not really a fair comparison in my mind, almost like two different characters.

The monster had the brain of igor in it and he went blind and could talk. yet in this film and all those that follow the monster never speaks or acts at all like igor and can see??
@trepacer
@trepacer Жыл бұрын
He could talk & was blind from Ghost of Frankenstein - when they made this movie - he did talk and his stumbling with his arms outstretched was because he was blind. They did test screenings and they said the executives didn't like the monster talking with Bela Lugosi's thick accent (even thought he did at the end of Ghost of Frankenstein because he has Igor's brain inside of him) so they deleted his scenes with dialogue from the movie. If you look on KZbin you can find that someone recreated the scenes with dialogue with stills.
