@alext25663 жыл бұрын
@@Irishmule169 He never had a really positive stance towards drugs of any sort. Drugs and alcohol were a recurring thing in his life, which is understandable because he obviously has a very busy mind and that can get exhausting after a while. He by no means endorsed them. He was neutral towards LSD and psychedelics. 4th of July is about an acid trip he had. A bad PCP trip he had at 14 left him an absolute nervous wreck for over two years, and likely affected him for far longer. Possibly the remainder of his life. Psychedelics and dissociatives amplify your emotional headspace, and expose your suppressed insecurities. They are a rollercoaster of intense emotion that you have little control over. If you aren't in a good headspace you are going to have a really bad time. Like PTSD and recurring nightmares bad. They are not to be taken lightly. Chris was never a particularly cheerful guy, and PCP is a ridiculously powerful dissociative, with an insanely long half life of two days, not to mention it alters your perception of time. An hour can feel like a day. You can see where this is going. Bad, bad, bad time.

@@alext2566 Watching his interviews (in addition of course to his performances) he was incredibly thoughtful and perceptive about a lot of things but he was also so articulate, much more so than almost any of his peers. He spoke in long, complete, organized sentences and paragraphs, in a very true and real and authenticate way. His loss is our loss, he had so much creative life and beautiful work still to do.

Laura Kelly: Exactly. Chris was talkative here and at times he seemed quite energized, but at other times he seemed to me a bit tired when he was talking to her. He was a very intelligent, thoughtful man and in all the interviews I've seen of him he was very considerate and not off-hand or above himself, which was the opposite of how many celebrities seem to be. Even if he was bored and sick of being asked the same questions in endless interviews, tired of doing the promotional stuff for his albums and tours, I doubt very much he would have shown that to the interviewers and would have been polite and tried to give his best, even if he was feeling crappy. This interview in particular breaks my heart - he was so sweet, genuine and ''normal', yet he seemed vulnerable and in need of being able to live a normal, happy life away from the media circus and spotlight. Unfortunately though, I don't think his wife would have been happy not having lots of public attention and I think he did whatever he could to please her and give her what she wanted.

Great interview, as always. Chris seems exactly like he always was in most interviews....sane, deep thinker and never afraid to express himself. Chris had converted to Greek Orthodox; which is very organized. He just wasn't into phony charlatans. That's all he was saying. His music spoke of God and deep religious yearning quite a bit; as well as being very spiritually deep in general. "Show Me How To Live", "Like A Stone" all had deep religious meaning. It's not a bad thing to be religious; it's bad to use and blame it for atrocious behavior. I personally share Chris' religion, and extremely glad to. RIP Chris, we'll always love you and praise you brother!!!!

Sprdvx- hmmm. I don't know. He rarely looked at her during the interview. He sounds like he's winging it. I think much of it is sad. And again he seems to at times try to present like substance abuse was not a thing in his life. I find this deeply sad at times. When you've bn thru rehab and you know how bad drug abuse is- and you've fallen back into it- it is deeply depressing and you feel hopeless and I think there's a desperation in this interview. I hope this sweet boy is in peace now.

Seems like Chris had issues with religions or philosophies, basically man-made institutions which preach about the "correct way" to live or what happens after death (which no living person can know). And, he (rightly) had disdain for charlatans. The fascinating thing is he was talking about the essence of true spirituality (imo), the kind which has nothing do with labels or doctrines, a natural spirituality, which basically is the deep and intuitive connection to the wholeness of life and awe at the mystery and miracle of reality / creation itself. There is no separation between the banana he referenced and the is-ness or spirit or whatever you want to call it which makes that banana possible. And, it seems he understood that on some level.
@sygmoore4 жыл бұрын
Seems like he knew some of the crap ppl talk about and do in the name of religion is full of crap and makes no sense. The things people worship and seek out like being adored for being on the red carpet and the pettiness of what they eat and wear was hollow and meaningless. He was clearly searching for a higher power and had yet to find it.

The awkwardness is undeniably obvious when he spoke about what helped him write and slipped up saying sometimes substance "if it doesn't kill you or harm" then eyes open up and bites his lip. And also the foundation talk..he knew by then that VK had stolen the money or was suspicious about it..that's why he played down the effort put in.."I'm not carrying a load of bricks up a hill" and that he was just doing what he loved singing and was going to do it anyway that night so why not donate it to helping others, the homeless or the kids...Chris was very uncomfortable and anxious answering about that Charity.
