Hubby lived in the Quarter, in New Orleans for over thirty years. Frankie Ford's lounge piano kicked ass. He did all kinds of stuff. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, soup to nuts, spotlights..the works. Ric remembers this withthe greatest affection. SEA CRUISE and the audience singing along "oo-ee baby", was of course golden. But Ric tells me this guy was, a freaking mini-Vegas, not some one-hit wonder, as many would have you believe..you can hear the Fats Domino boogie woogie influence, and even a whiff of Jerry Lee Lewis. The late Frankiewas, as my Uncle Jimmy liked to say: all wool and a yard wide. RIP, stylish, groovy gent...

WOW .. Love it !! A Legend !!! This song still sounds amazing many years later after it's release. People still love it !! What an explosive Era. IT's amazing that Frankie was right there with his fantastic contributions to the era !! Frankie had a feel like no other artist. This song still sounds great at my live gigs. (pre Covid) .. and it works well on the Cruise Ship gigs as well. My Students love to learn and play this song. If you need it transposed into a different key to make it easier to sing, i can help you with that as well. Gotta Love the Classics. ;-)

I met and talked with Frankie for just a few minutes at the First Cavalry Division Officer's Club at Camp Howze in Korea, 1964. We were both in the Army and he was playing the piano during the cocktail hour at a formal function. It was said, that when the command staff found out who he was they took him out of his assigned unit and made him the director of the First Team chorus, the singing group of the First Cavalry Division. They entertained at the officer's and NCO clubs in the division area. That was great duty!

In that clip from the Cosimo documentary...Ford mentions that the high humidity in the air in New Orleans, caused the felt in the piano keys (hammers?) to swell up, so when you'd hit the note you were aiming for, it sometimes didn't quite come out that way..which created some VERY interesting interpretive results...

I watch another video this talks more about “we (he) record it it don’t go something like this it goes exactly like this.” This party was back in 1999 and he some of the others were becoming apawed about the music at the time. I can’t exactly say that I would argue with him but it’s wrose now and it’s on every channel.

@hunterv41 I think cw605 meant that Ford did the song "Sea Cruise" (aka THE ONE IN THIS VIDEO) before Lewis did his version of this same song, which was in the 1970s. In fact, re-reading cw's comment I think it's obvious. Pay close attention to the part where he says: "he was before Jerry with the song Sea (sic) Cruse"
