He was 13 yes old and he could sang! They were from my mom's era, so that had to be early 50s. My favorite is "Little Bitty Pretty One" and "Goody, Goody"! Frankie went solo when he sang these. His story is tragic. But his songs were hits around the world, and I know they performed in England. They were very big for a time, but Frankie, especially after he went solo, was in the road on his own and fell prey to heroin. He was so young when he died in his 20s. He was so talented, who knows what he would have become. He co-wrote "Why so Fools Fall in Love" I know, but I can't remember for the rest of their hits.

Released in 1956, this is such a catchy tune. The vocals are right on point and are especially impressive because there is minimal instrumentation. Loved the polite bow to the audience right at the end ... 😊

Classic tune. DooWop with a red hot jazz middle eight. Frankie Lymon might be closer to 15 in that clip and that clip is probably from about 15 years before the Jackson 5. If he were alive today and recording, he might sound like Bruno Mars. Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers ushered in rock and roll with a performance of "I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent" in the 1956 film Rock, Rock, Rock. Check it out sometime.

Frankie Lymon had a short and troubled life. His career diminished as his personal issues, financial, women, and drugs, increased. He died at the age of 25 from a heroin overdose.
