One thing that always eneter my mind when watching these great videos is how awesome Lou Duva was a trainer.He really loved his fighters and wasnt afraid to let the other side know . I would have felt so safe with him on my side .RIP Lou

I was ringside when Riddick and his team of thugs were stomping out poor Lou as he laid hanging off the canvas. I was pretty much a kid and knew guys from both camp from my dad, but I still remember being scared shitless that they were going to kill that old man. Lou and his kid Danny were both great guys. Unlike someone like Bob Arum, Lou came up the hard way and earned everything he had.

@@thomasp3865 Lou was actually a pretty decent trainer, he had been working with guys since the 50's. The thing is when you are managing, promoting, and coaching a stable of prizefighters, you need a lot of help. He had his son Dan and Georgie along with a ton of other guys who helped him in different areas. But Lou was always the boss

What a great documentary yet again !! Such a shame that Warren was not a knockout puncher. More an attrition type of fighter, pressure, pressure, pressure. Interesting watching the Mark Breland fight in the amateurs. A sign of things to come in the pro ranks for Mark. Keep them coming ( when you can ) @ RTFH. Great stuff 🥊🥊💥💥🥊🥊
@hydorah

I was thinking the same. He clearly had plenty of punching power but because he was inside all the time even his biggest punches were never clean. Even in R10 many of his opponents were still able to fire back hard. Being just 5'3" didn't work out for him. His trainers could maybe encouraged him to sometimes pick a shot, or manipulate the guard of a fighter if he'd got them rocked, might have helped? Looks like they just let him do as he saw fit. Impressive stuff though. What a lion!

I remember Frankie Warren, he was a bull with a huge heart! Three times the size of his stature and he was extremely exciting in all his fights, I especially remember those Buddy Mcgirt's fights they were classics!!! He had a Champion's Heart for sure. His career because of his style wasn't going to be a long one, too. And to me, Buddy Mcguirt, as a fighter should be in the Hall a fame, too he really didn't his due til the Pernell Whitaker fights. About Frankie I never knew about the amateur fight verses Mark Breland. I do remember that Breland was knocking everybody out as an amateur, he was from Brooklyn Bedstuy, New York, so I knew of him as he won the Golden Gloves like 5 years in a row and won the Gold medal in 84 at the Olympics, and Frankie Warren dropped him in their fight i didn't know that! What an amazing and courageous fighter. Shame his eye blew up during his title shot, but he didn't look himself he looked very slow and punched at about half his normal frequency, I wonder what happened? Did he try to pace himself I wonder? You can see why he struggled as with his lack of reach he always had to get inside, no clean powershots ever. If he'd had his work rate, drive and punching power with more reach he'd have been utterly unstoppable! Lucky for the rest of the division he was only 5'3"

I think he was past his expiration date by the time he fought Garza. But I see Warren as a guy who easily coulda been champ. Of course he gets a peaking McGirt for his shot. There was a ton of 140 pound titlists around that time he coulda beaten. I think he was iced out during his prime in 1985-87 and was starting to wane a little by 88. He'd have surely beaten Terry Marsh, Gary Hinton, Joe Manley, or any of the other titleholders around that time.
