The 31 Omnis has the most comfortable grip section! A true joy to write with for long writing sessions. To avoid a mess under the recessed nib, I simply refill my converter directly from the bottle. I use an old wide mouth Sailor bottle that I keep filled with my most used ink. With all of the great nib options Franklin-Christoph offers, this is a strong contender for the fountain pen user who doesn't necessarily want a large collection of pens. I currently have 5 of their nibs. It's like having 5 pens in one.

Thanks Stephen. Great review, and a REALLY attractive pen! Thanks for circling back on the clip as by early appearance it did seem like that cool clip feature where you can push down on one side and it opens the other instead of jamming a finger nail in there and pulling it away. Oh well....can't have it all. The writing sample was outstanding....nice robust lines without it being out-ta control....surprising for a double broad.

FC makes some really interesting pens. I like the design very much in general but this particular pen has something more. Love the color. I agree though about the ink leaking problem and for some people it might even be a major issue. It also happens with my model 29 but I don’t really care. Some might. Overall this is a very good looking pen.

I have this very pen, albeit with a 14k S.I.G. nib. The partially hooded nib is a design choice on F-C's part. I haven't had the ink's surface tension cause a residual there, but it is a good point. I completely concur regarding the clip. It's good, but a little upward incline at the end would be an improvement. I too miss the "monk intro." I'm fairly new to your channel, but thoroughly enjoy your review style and relish going through your previous content. Take care, good sir.

I have an FK model 02. Often, when taking off the cap, I get the section along with it. I don't believe I over tighten my pens, but this happens very often. Still happens after sending it to FK where they replaced the section, they told me it was over polished. Not trying to bash the pen maker here, still love the pen. Just curious if anyone else has this issue? My model 45 doesn't have this problem at all, the cap comes of very confidently without issue.

Happened to me. I do not ED it, so no issue for me. Once I have stained the cap with splash of ink and I rinsed it with washing powder - since then the last quarter of closing the cap feels a bit different - can't explain it - and it no longer happens.

Happened to me as well, I have a model 66. I tried to overtighten the barrel and then under tighten the cap, and that helped. I do use it as a desk pen so I don't have to worry about the cap unscrewing in my bag.

I would join your request but in the opposite direction - "purpurae" acrylics in model 1901 would make me use a credit card instantly :) . That would be a second 1901 and fourth F-C pen, mind you.

Curious if the cap has any sealing feature or if you experience nib drying between use? My FC pen tends to dry out in a couple days as I don't feel the threads are sufficient to seal the cap to the body.

I also haven't experienced drying out with my Pocket 66. Perhaps get in touch with them and see if they would take a look. There might be a small crack somewhere that's causing evaporation. I had cause to communicate with them when my pen developed a problem and they were very nice to communicate with. Best of luck and I hope you find a solution because FC's are lovely pens.

You can also see them at most of the larger pen shows in the U.S. They bring lots of one-off's and small batch prototypes, so it's worth looking for their table, if you ever get the opportunity. If you do order inline, they are very good to deal with.

Okay, it's time for someone else to mention that Stephen is a man as dangerous as he says certain others, who shall go unnamed in this post, are - at least when he meets them at pen shows. I too am somewhat poorer thanks to his videos. I am also happier, which a psychologist, even one who is not necessarily a clinical practitioner, should value and enjoy even. I have been lead down dark alleys named Leonardo Officina Italiana, Bexley, and OMAS. But I have met wonderful treats, and not ladies of the night. My life is better. My question now is, how much will this alley cost me, and how much enjoyment will it bring??
