It’s impressive that Franklin secretly used his powers to avert disaster and save his family and the world while making sure that he will use his powers once a year to make sure that he can control his powers and continue to become a kid. Also, Franklin being mentioned as a mutant.

I like Carlos Gomez 's artwork . He did a great job at drawing Rogue and Gambit series and X-TERMINATORS last year which was a saving grace for those titles in my opinion .

The thing about comics, the longer characters/comic books are around, the greater the chance for old ideas to return. This wasn't the first time Franklin suppressed his powers to allow himself to grow up naturally. This reveal could have been more subtle, without Scratch, if the writer didn't intend to use Franklin's powers in a big way later down the road. Of course, editorial/writer changes can happen to sideline whatever the plans that were in development....

He is not. He got his powers from his parents' Cosmic Ray-altered genes, not the X-gene. Xavier once said that Franklin was NEVER a mutant, ever!

Because it helps set the stakes and keep them from being used as a Deus ex Machina solution. If they were used too often, then there is no CONFLICT & NO STORY!

Two things: 1) Do you think Franklin used his precognition to know the chaos of Krakoa and Orchis? That's why he turned off his mutant gene to be kicked out of Krakoa and not have to get involved in the war against Orchis. 2) Do you think Franklin has an equivalent in DC Comics? I like to think that the most suitable would be Timothy Hunter, protagonist of The Books of Magic, since they both have the same plot of children with immeasurable power and potential and destined for great things.

He only became a mutant IN Claremont's "Days of Future Past" story arc, and that was when Franklin's status as a mutant stuck since then! Also, Xavier himself said to Franklin that he was NEVER a mutant and that Franklin used his powers to MAKE himself one!!
