Zach, if I weren't stuck in southern illinois, I'd pay to spend a day as an "apprentice" in the field with ya. I'm a welder, fabricator, heavy equipment mechanic, and all around fix it guy in the scrapyard I work at. You got some beautiful country down there, that's for sure!

I currently own and have owned A LOT of Equipment over my 35 years in The Business.... I have had many similar Projects... I have the habit of buying a machine or piece of Heavy Equipment for the sole purpose to do 1 Job than it sits until it gets so full of Bees that I can't get within 50 feet of the daggone thing.... Haha!

It might be the 1st time in my seven decades on planet Earth that I've seen a fella dump a 5 gallon bucket of water into an engine.... One just never quite knows what he's gonna see when tuning in to TheZachLife! ;) That ole blister don't sound half bad! Can't wait for more of this thing. My experience in oil fields has been that the uglier the rig, the more valuable it is to the operation. I've seen rigs where both ends looked like stove up front ends and you honestly couldn't tell which end was which. But it worked!

Appreciate your willingness to go through and teach running the overhead on a small cam/big cam Cummins. That’s a good tip on watching the valves instead of looking at the timing marks on the accessory drive. Never know who could of put it on wrong

I saw one like it in Amarillo while getting fuel on the way to Colorado this August that was on a tow bar and being towed to a site by a tank truck. He had a make-shift drilling platform on it. I asked about it and he said he sold the Mack cab, motor and transmission since he didn't need something else to title and insure. I liked his KISS reasoning.

@mattwillson8280Ай бұрын
slow to idle up and down is usually the fuel spill is closed off to much. actual idle speed is set at the back of the pump .if set right , it should rev up and idle down quickly. i think the in-lb setting for the injectors is for the top stop style , yours should bottomed out and backed out a half a turn.

My first franks 300 was set up to drill. We removed a ton of stuff to get it to well service spec. Over time, we added back items that we thought were junk. For your shallow wells, I wonder if a power swivel skid wouldn't do as well. Not as stout but way easier to manage and then you'd have a nice service rig. Love your site. Good luck !

I had to drain water out of an engine that went down in a lake once. This thing was underwater for 3 weeks. Drain the water and oil out of the motor,pulled injectors spun it over with fresh oil, put injectors back in. Started no problem, and the oil never became murky or white with water. I thought for sure this this thing was going to need multiple oil changes, but the oil was fine.

Back in the day I worked on a put together small triple, 6 Detroits 671's on the floor, dog clutch drawworks, contracted to exxon in south Texas. 6 pack gardener denver pushed big cat. Evening tower Derrick hand, always spudded in,fast tripper but no bull line,so collers were worked out of belt 15 feet above monkey board, bails caught cat line one night and that was what I was holding on to, flew to the other side of the Derrick and the swing back I let go and landed on the monkey board put my belt on for the next stand looked down the driller was shaking his head. One night had a really short stand dand laying on the monkey board, when those bailes slammed shut before he figured and that stand of pipe jumped of the floor before he braked her down. Another night I come up from the mud tanks smoking a cigarette, exxon company man was up their conducting a flow check, I told him I'm the flow check, if you see me smoking a cigarette or a doobie, no gas. If you see me weighting mud every few minutes and you see me running bayrite. We are getting gas and I dropped my cigarette down the hole and walked off. It was the good oil field back in the 70tys and the early 80tys.
