My grandpa’s a good singer but he’d never sing in front of others. Growing up I would sometimes hear him sing to himself in his room in the afternoon, it always made me feel connected to him somehow. Listening to this made me so emotional. I've never had the opportunity to have someone I call "grandad" and currently don't have a good relationship with my dad. This feels like a big step back to take it all in and just breath for a few minutes. A way to just listen and calm down. To see and hear someone who is just living and thriving and decided to learn a beautiful song for people to hear. My dad is a bit old school in the way that he almost refuses to learn and understand new things. It's a major struggle for me and is the reason I'm not the best spot right now. This makes me really happy to see an older man take on modern things because some of it really is beautiful.

Well, for starters you'll probably realize very quickly that this message is being written by a translator, but the truth is that I didn't want to let my language make it impossible for me to leave you a message of support. You really are great, your delicate way of singing and playing the guitar has relaxed me a lot, it has filled me with joy for the two minutes it lasted. I really admire that you maintain this taste for music, it is difficult nowadays to see older people who have maintained their interest in music and dedicate themselves to making these types of covers of current songs. I hope you can continue a full and healthy life, with your hobby and your great delicacy to carry it out. God bless you and your family, I love you For those who ask what the translator is, it is Google Translator! I guess it's improved enough that no one has noticed haha. So, when I die, which I must do Could it shine down here with you? 'Cause my love is mine, all mine I love mine, mine, mine Nothing in the world belongs to me But my love mine, all mine, all mine My baby, here on earth Showed me what my heart was worth So, when it comes to be my turn Could you shine it down here for her? 'Cause my love is mine, all mine I love mine, mine, mine Nothing in the world belongs to me But my love mine, all mine Nothing in the world is mine for free But my love mine, all mine, all mine

I lost my grandpa at a very young age and this reminded me of him. He was a great man, a Vietnam War veteran who would sit on his chair in the old living room and play with me all the time. He knew how much I loved horses as a silly little toddler- he would play me country music and rub my back. Thank you, sir. Have a blessed New Years.

Holy shit. Pure passion and love in this song. So raw and beautiful. This is a great cover. While mitskis has an aura of triumph, of someone finally realizing what truly matters in life, yours is sad and woeful, of someone who has lived it all and lost it all wanting to leave behind what he can.

you know you could compliment him without bringing down mitski.

@@karimah7937 when did they bring down mitski? "Did mitski justice" means that he reached the standards to which people generally hold mitski to. It's essentially a compliment to both of them.

your voice reminds me of a grandpa from a movie while he holds the mentally hurt child in his arms while on a porch, rocking back and forth in a rocking chair while the sun goes down after a struggle of events. truly a perfect, wholesome voice and skill. very comforting.

My Grandpa, that I lost this year, was a great guitarist. I just saw this video as a recommendation today and made me remember him. I wish he's still with us and play new songs like you do. I hope you stay healthy and happy for a long long time, Sir, and keep sharing music! ❤️

Theres something so strange about this song. It feels like you're being torn apart and shattered while also being warmed and comforted. It's a unique feeling and the guitar was so satisfying. I didn't know I needed this today but really feel like I did. Thank you 🙂

My grandpa died due to a lung disease when I was still young, so I've never really got the chance to spend much time with him in this lifetime, but what I do know about him is that he loved music. I would sit on his legs while he played the guitar, that's my most treasured memories I have with him. A few days ago would have been his birthday. Thank you for reminding me of that sweet memory through your music.

This showed up unexpectedly in my recommended videos and I’m so glad it did. This is a really unique take on a song I really love, and I seriously just had to stop and soak it in for a minute… it’s hauntingly beautiful and struck a deep chord with me. I’ve been going through a difficult time, but something about this rendition is so comforting and soothing. There’s soul behind it :)

I think your delivery was a special kind of somber. The way sadness almost escapes thru your voice on specific parts of the song is truly breathtaking to hear. Emotions like this can only be brought by years of life experiences. ❤

i really love the message of this song. mitski is saying that even if she loses everything, she has love in her heart. not a person, not something to love, but that she HAS love in her soul. your cover was so melancholic and beautiful. keep singing please
