Tommy made an incredible influence on Frano from his youngest age, being his musical idol and shaping his musical path, giving him strength and motivation to continue and develop as guitarist. This is their first public appearance, and Frano (nor his parents) didn't know he is going to be invited to play. After short playing in backstage, Tommy invited Frano to play together in the show, and the rest is a history. Tommy is an incredible musician and truly a great person. We are beyond happy, very grateful and proud for having a chance to meet the man with such a big heart and soul. An unbelievable experience. Thank you, Tommy!

Frano...I've been working on a version of "Halfway Home" and I'm nearly there. But you're a bit ahead of me---even though I've been playing for over 40 years! HAHA!! :D So I know how difficult this tune is (especially the chorus!). You do a WONDERFUL job here! These days when most kids are learning to shred, I'm proud of you for learning the thumb, control of harmonics, use of open strings, dynamics...I wish you the very best!

What is now a very long ago, 1976, a young Tommy Emmanuel toured with the late Buddy Williams bringing rare delight to people in remote areas in Australia. Tommy MC'ed much of the show. His introduction of Buddy Williams was, "the man who can eat an apple through a tennis racquet without breaking the strings". - Buddy had widely spaced teeth. Tommy's musical genius was already well apparent. Buddy Williams would invite local performers on stage to have a go. One 13 year old kid at Onslow, ( given name cannot be used for traditional reasons ) Hughes had physical disability. He more than made up for this with musical talent of his own. Buddy kept him on the show for the second half and placed his own hat on the kid's head in homage to his talent. At 1:06 on this clip you will see Tommy mime a similar gesture with the young guest performer, guest performers being a tradition he has continued with his own shows.
