I understand why Axel Schulz lost all his important fights:he always accepted to be dominated 2 minutes per round,trying to not take too many punches in order to throw a massive attack in the last minute.Ali and De La Hoya were also specialist and they always impressed the judges because they were 2 legends of boxing.But you are an unknown German fighting in USA it's risky.

Blöd ist, wenn man als Axel Schulz keinen Uppercut kann sondern nur im Manfred-Wolke-Stil aus der Doppeldeckung gerade drauf losboxt. Mit einer korrekten Ausbildung hätte Axel diesen langsamen Südafrikaner in Einzelteile zerlegt.

Das stimmt. Das große Problem war damals sein Trainer Manfred Wolke, der Schulz immer falsch eingestellt hat. Axel hätte Emanuel Steward oder Fritz Sdunek gebraucht.

Das hat mit der korrekten Ausbildung manchmal wenig zu tun. Viele deutsche Trainer sagen steht's ihren Schützlingen, sie sollen lang kämpfen mit geraden Händen, was insbesondere gegen größere Gegner der absolute Blödsinn ist. Deutsche Boxschule allgemein ist manchmal der absolute Stuss.

Naja - ohne korrekte Boxausbildung lässt sich keine erfolgreiche Amateurkariere verwirklichen. Schulz war mehrfacher DDR Meister und Europameister der Junioren. Aber ich verstehe die Kritik. Wolke und auch Wegner betonten neben Kondition bolzen einen einfachen geradlinige Boxstil - Führhand, Führhand, Schlaghand - 1 /2 Kombinationen aus einer sicheren Deckung heraus. Wenig brilliant aber meistens effektiv.
