I vividly remember this being on. I’d seen them live before and taped this performance on VHS. It was a few months before the album and in the pre KZbin days this was one of the few ways to hear new tunes and videos. Good times.

Just goes to show that you can fluff your way through a song and still come up smelling of roses, once you give it balls 😉

@eric6905 жыл бұрын
Yeah, safe to say this performance was not the bassist at his best. This song doesn’t leave room to get away with mistakes - the bass plays a pretty prominent role in the song. I’m sure he’s redeemed himself since then

@@SeanStewart88 so playing bass for a band like this means you'll have to sacrifice either playing all the right notes or looking slick for all the ladies in the BBC jools holland studio.

seeing this makes me wonder how many takes it took them to actually nail the groove in the studio ..or unless other people were brought in to play
@kevinswift86546 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure they did nail the groove here. It just doesn't sound the same without all the studio magic, and here they're playing all amped up because it's live. They're a rock band after all. I get whatcha mean but I don't think it was any technical flaw.

studio version was recorded live with no overdubs - this is just faster - live and first time on TV

@@rockymvvrcianu6846 Yes, I love how raw they sound and how you can actually hear Nick's guitar and not just the main riff. The song was born from the melody that Nick plays, not the main riff that everyone knows. Fantastic song all around.
@rockymvvrcianu68462 жыл бұрын
@@TheChagGup I was thinking the same. I hear at least two riffs and their chords or whatever aren't heard in the album version. This is my favorite performance of the song though the album version is still good.
