Such beautiful phrasing, impeccable intonation, and unified articulation - just lovely! I had seen & heard their Mozart Divertimento, probably from the same concert. Only now discovering this Schubert, though. Unbelievable musicianship! We’ll recorded & filmed, too. Thank you to all involved!

New tech condenser mics and mic position on top hanging is why it sounds so fabulous. Meanwhile old farts in charge of most venues still yet to upgrade less employ sound engineers to optimize placement of mics.

Shubert is very near Mozart in this. Your are gorgeous musicians, this is soooo good !

Good observation - and Schubert was going through a period of Mozart worship at the time (1816) -- writing several Mozartian works including his 5th symphony in Bb at the same time as this trio - which models itself in a very complimentary way with Mozart's symphony 40 in G minor.

Lovely! Thank you for uploading this. But, this recording is of the first movement Allegro only. None of the second movement, the Andante (which is incomplete) is in this performance..

@@hochrheinmusikfestival Thank you Jacob! It is interesting to learn what an eclectic, yet brilliant composer Schubert was. Yet, this is at a Mozartian level of composition.

@@dansingmuch Hardly. Schubert was an amateur whose music is made up of endless repeats. at best he was a Beethoven imitator.

Asking for a friend. I was watching the film Running on Empty with River Phoenix(1988), & this piece was being played by a trio-like here-, & reading the sheet music they shown read it. Said Schubert Trio No. 1. So came here. Goggled as read, & this came up. But, doesn't say " No. 1". -it sounds vy similar but a little different, so am a bit confused if this is the actual one? - P.S. Watched the credits, but never listed the classical pieces. Anyone set me on the straight & narrow for certain??? 🙂
