I can’t believe it’s been a year already! Talking about honeysuckle brought back a time in my youth when we had old growth honeysuckle vines on the side of our family home. The smell was always so heavenly and I remember as a child plucking the bright orange blossoms and sipping the nectar. Now onto your FO - that sweater definitely screams heather! The play of the pinks, purples and whites against the lushness of the green is, IMO, exactly how I imagine a field of heather would look. Your WIPs are, as always, inspiring. One last note. As an American, I’ve found it difficult to find undyed Galway yarn, roving or fleece. It’s long been a dream of mine to process, spin and knit or weave a traditional Irish garment as a legacy project for my children. Baring the ability to process it all the way through, having undyed yarn so that I can dye myself using natural dyes would suffice, so this give-away is especially appealing, though I’ve got the typical Irish luck when it comes to most anything, so I’m under no illusion that I could possibly win. No matter, your videos always keep me grounded in the pursuit.

You are my very favorite knitting companion here 💕 So happy that you are mentioning the Galway sheep & yarn & the efforts being made in Ireland to preserve the herds & their precious fleeces + the farmers who care for them 🍀 A cute & funny thing...my little dog Idggie watches your podcasts as well & she BARKS & jumps around everytime she sees your Gato kitty come on the screen - I think she has "a thing" for him! 😂 Did you all find your Tiger Lily kitty??? We take care of homeless cats & they can really worry you at times 😢 Your Soldotna sweater is gorgeous & your Heather colorway looks 💯% amazing on you!! I am here in HOT HOT Florida knitting a pattern by an Irish brand (Hedgehog Fibers) "Le Pouf Cardigan" 😮 Its crazy to be in this heat & knitting a cardigan, haha 🥵 Your rainy cool weather in Ireland sounds like Heaven right now 🥰 Love & hugs to you & Reuben 🙏🍀

Congratulations! I love your videos, so informative and interesting! I’m Helen, living in a small village in weardale uk, living here makes me more aware of the season ps and plant life. I regularly have owls in the tree in my garden, listening to them late at night is so soothing. I knit, spin, weave and draw, I’m currently knitting the half and half striped wrap and doing the Stephen west summer sock along. My favourite yarns are natural undyed rustic yarns, I think this is because I spin, so I’m gradually going along that route. I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer.

I'm in the hot part of the world (and humid) but thankfully we have air conditioning (not just survival but so that I can still knit/crochet/spin). Your Soldotna crop turned out really well! I consider my knits "done" once they're off the needles even if ends need weaving and it's not blocked. That yarn offered up is gorgeous on camera and looks like it would be lovely to squish (and knit with). Looking forward to seeing your current WIPs grow (and mine in that time, too! 😂). Happy podiversary!

Our weather here in Maine is similar to Ireland, living on the coast there’s always a lovely sea breeze. I feel incredibly lucky to be here, but also sad for the ways in which the weather is changing so rapidly, causing so much loss and suffering. I am currently knitting the Saglan pullover pattern by Ailbíona McLochlainn in a yarn spun from local Romney sheep. It is very thick and will be wonderful to wear on long snowy walks or cross country skiing. It’s a soft grey-brown, but oh my , Aine, your Soldotna Sweater is so absolutely stunning, and makes me want to knit something colorful next!

Happy Podiverary 🎆. Your soldotna is stunning, the best color combination. Loved hearing about the folklore regarding the honeysuckle. I tried growing a plant here in eastern Ontario, Canada, and had no luck, I don't think it ever flowered and then just withered away. Maybe I'll try again sometime and have more success. Loved your podcast as always Aine and especially love the colors for your beautiful Soldatna. I bought some books on Colourwork and am working on the right frame of mind to dip my toes in. When I hear you talk about the Irish myths I can’t help but envy the “magical” world our ancestors experienced. There’s a book I want to read that talks about trees communicating with each other. I have 3 giant Live Oak trees in my front yard and I always sense their rapport with one another. They have shallow roots and I no longer allow visitors to drive over them. I’ll try to rustle up the name of the book. Given your appreciation of nature you might like it. Also, yea to you for embracing your body shape. We women need to support one another in this especially as an example for young women. Hot here in Georgia right now. Live under the fan with lots of cool lemon water. It’s so hot in Phoenix right now that people are ending up in the hospital from 3rd degree burns from falling down on the pavement! Climate change is here.

Hello! Happy podaversary! We recently took a trip to Norfolk, East England. While there, we visited Kngs Lynn, while there, we went to their museum to see Sea Henge. This monument was removed from its home on Holm beach. It was sinking into the sand until a storm happened and the circle made if tree trunks was revealed. In the centre a huge bade if an oak tree had been placed upside down. When excavations were being done to remove the stumps and last of all the upside-down tree, guesses were made as to what lay beneath. A popular idea was that it should have been the grave of a great leader. However when the centre was removed all that was found was an acorn, but more interesting to you, as you were talking of honeysuckle, was a rope made from honeysuckle, obviously used for lowering the tree into the sand. Testimony to the strength of the honeysuckle plant!

Thanks again, Áine for yet another wonderful podcast. I sure have been enriched by your offerings. I've learned a ton of folklore - it's always so interesting. I'm knitting on the Downtown Hoodie as I listen inspired by you. If I'm honest, I have to say I'm a bit envious of your sweater wearing. It's hot and humid here in southwestern Ontario. I'm looking very forward to hearing your song. ❣

Hi Ann, hope you get some cooler weather soon to allow for sweater wearing - we've had the perfect summer here for it - lots of rain and cool temperatures. As I get older I prefer this type of weather to too much heat. Glad to hear you are knitting the Downtown Hoodie - enjoy:)

Hi, Aine...I’ve been loving your podcast, especially fascinated by the Irish culture section. I’m 3rd generation Irish, now knitting and living in Northern California.... now enjoying my morning coffee while knitting the Riste Poncho in Shetland wool!

I’m learning colour way ; but I’ve got a long way to go . I’m new to knitting and reading patterns so this is a big challenge, a lot of stress and crying 😢 but hopefully I will soon be the proud owner of a homemade jumper. Haven’t got round to trying different wools yet due to my budget but they say patience is a virtue 🥰 I love your jumper your wearing colours are beautiful and go well together. ☘️💐

Hello Aine Congratulations on your podiversary 🎉. I always look so forward to your podcasts. The knitting content and the history you speak about are always amazing. The sweater you are wearing is stunning. A few episodes ago you spoke about the book Aran knitting by Alice Starmore. My copy arrived in the mail today. So looking forward to knitting from it. Thank you for mentioning the book. Colleen Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

Congratulations on your first year! I love spinning and knitting specific breed wools. I’m currently spinning wool I purchased locally; Romney, Polypay, and Border Leicester. My current knitting project is the Collins Tee which I’m using cotton yarns for as it’s a bit too warm in Michigan, USA for wool…😉 I love listening to your podcasts!

I’m currently working on my first Stephen West shawl, the Doodler. It’s fantastic! I’ve been wanting to knit his shawls for years and am glad I finally made the time to. Love hearing about your knitting and the different aspects of Irish culture.

Thank you for the knitting company! Your podcast is such a delight, it really feels like sitting and knitting with a (very accomplished) friend. I’m in Northern New England, so summers can still be cool and enjoying working on the Abbeyhill Sweater by Ysolda Teague - bottom up is a first for me!
