Finally an answer!! This makes so much sense too because my miniature rose has a perfect bloom on one side and several bull-nosed flowers next to the window which gets quite cold.

Wow. Never knew that roses could also experience and show confusion and indecision. Perhaps it happens in nature more often than people realize. Very interesting. Thanks ;-)

I learn so much from your videos, Jason! Thanks for posting this. I've seen it in my roses before and didn't even know it had a name, much less what was going on! Appreciate you so much !

This problem happened last year in my "bloomfield-abundance" little roses...I checked on Internet and other people wrote about it in relation of the "bloomfield-abundance" variety...I am going to check the new bloomings this spring

I see this a lot with First Crush and sometimes with Earth Angel. I use to think it was because of lack of water, now I know it’s bullnosing and it’s not a problem. Thanks!

Wow. Thank you for doing a video on this. My rose did this last year and I was so worried. We had recently moved and I had transplanted it the previous fall I was afraid something horrible happened to my rose and I couldn't find info that matched its condition anywhere. Eventually it started blooming regularly again, but I was always curious about wht on earth had happened to it.

This is affecting 'Summer Romance' this year. We did have a couple of super hot days followed by cold in May; maybe that's it. I'm glad it's nothing serious.

My roses do this here in Pacific Northwest. We constantly have the temperature going up and down between day and night. Now I know. How about roses flower and start dying in just few days..? Is that something to do with temperature also? I water the very morning when it’s dry..
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 жыл бұрын
There's more than one reason that flower buds can stop developing and "dry up" - one recent visitor to my farm told me about a fungal infection that he felt cause widespread flower abortion in his rose garden. Uneven moisture. Root or nutrient problems. It could be pretty difficult to narrow down. For now, I can only advise to provide the best garden conditions you can, and keep on observing. Does it always happen in the same weather - does it vary a lot from variety to variety? If you can start to see a pattern, it may help to diagnose.

Thank you for your comment. One of my climbing roses has the bullnosing buds. They eventually open up but once start blooming, they don’t last long. The pedals start falling just in a few days. I’m tried not overwater and add some fertilizer (store bought and banana peels) to see if that helps.

Hello Jason. My very newly adopted Violets Pride rose is exhibiting just this, in unfortunate abundance...she had 2 "normal" blooms, and now an entire 6-7 bud spray is affected. Im located in SoCal(northern San Diego county) in zone 10b, & currently days are hot/dry (temps in the 80's-low 90s) while nights cool off considerably(low 60's), which of course makes seemingly perfect conditions for our lovely bullnosed prolif.! Is there anything i can do, short of working weather magic, that could give me hope that the other 20 or so buds will not meet this same fate? And are there any notable "early signs" of both/either?? Thank you so much for your time & your absolutely excellent, informative videos. They have become an absolute necessity done with obvious genius unparalleled*🌹🌹👌

Can a bullnose flower produce seed if it did not produce new shoots?
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 жыл бұрын
They don't tend to develop or open properly - I do see some stamens in there, but not sure if they'll ever fully develop.

How to differentiate between Bullnosing & botrytis? For a newcomer (like me) it may be confusing.
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I did a different video on botrytis (search: pink spots on roses) and it presents quite a different look. Bullnosing I usually only see in the earliest part of my season, when night temperatures are quite cool. Botrytis can happen later into the season too, anytime there's moisture/humidity to establish on the petals.

Well they look really pretty I would of thought you carve them out of paper made of roses and wrap them in a bundle and used some sort of different sap
