How was the catapult actuated?

It may seem like a catapult but it's not. The mechanism that shoots the ball is made of 2 sets of fly wheels (top&bottom) and a mechanism that sort of scoops the ball into those wheels when they reach a certain - wanted speed...

Not a catapult. It's a rising appendage which contains the ball (boulder) and flywheels. When the wheels have spun up, a poly-carbonate part actuates and pushes it into flywheels which spin at a high velocity, launching the ball.

+Nolan Buck We are currently working on fitting a climbing mechanism onto our practice bot and hopefully - if it works well, we'll add it to the competition robot in the regional in 2 weeks...
