He felt powerless all his life. Voldemort offered him power, of course he took that chance He wasn't a good person by any means but its not entirely his fault it was society and his bullies. Dumvledore basically emotionally blackmailed him into working for him. He was never going to get lily and that's obvious but a child never growing up can be because of trauma and a child growing up too fast is because they had to. Snape experienced both of these. In conclusion he is quite an interesting character with much trauma and hurt to unpick and unravel.

Some creative liberties were taken to make the song and the art better match. Yes, he’s leaping through a mirror. That’s meant to be symbolic, not literal. There are several scenes like this, which are largely artistic in nature and not based on some kind of canon fact. The timeline is also extremely non-linear, and doesn’t include /every/ scene. 2. I can’t stop you from interpreting this animatic how you want to, but this video was NOT intended as a ship video. I interpret Snape and Lily’s friendship as exactly that: a friendship. In addition, Snape does not harbor any feelings other than a sense of regret and anger towards Harry. Not only that, Harry is a minor for this entire animatic (ranging between ages 13 and 17), and I tried to portray him that way. The next animatic... I haven’t begun working on it, bc I’m not sure what direction it’ll take, or even what song I’ll use. I do know it will be post war, and it may have a ship in it (snupin) but we’ll see how motivated I am after classes are over and summer starts.

That’s kinda because he was an asshole? Being bullied and being mentally ill doesn’t excuse him?? Like, he bullied Neville because he could’ve been the prophecy kid and Lily would be alive, and that’s some garbage shit excuse. He bullied Harry because he looked like his father, who was his bully. Don’t sit there and defend that, you shouldn’t let personal feelings and grudges affect your teaching, that’s a fact. Also, he still loved Lily, but that’s sorta creepy, seeing as at the time he admitted to it, she was married, and dead, for over fifteen years. He has to move on, not cling onto his love for someone who was taken. He participated in the dark arts, against the want of Lily. He refused to listen to her, held grudges and called many people, including her, a racial slur. She had the right to leave the friendship because he was a jerk, and Snape didn’t change even after she left. He only absorbed himself into the Dark arts more. James was reported to have cooled down by seventh year, and that’s when they started dating. When James realised his jerkiness, he changed and Lily dated him because he became a better person, Snape however, wallowed in self-pity, and his actions led to Lily’s death. He had a lot of negative emotions, I can understand that. However, he took those out on the children he was teaching instead of getting help. It says something when one of your students’ worst fear is you, their teacher. People make him seem to be an angel who was wronged and that James was a horrible person until his death, but people neglect to realise that Snape wasn’t a good person, he was an asshole. That’s why people call him one. Thank you for coming to my TED talk

For the 0:41 I'm just guessing he is back from a rather hard Death-Eater meeting, asking himself if this is the life and person he wants to be. (with the lyric "I've lost myself in make-believe") I don't know what the part of his reflection walking away could mean, but it could be that he is finished with the misery in his life and/or finished being the person he has become, and wants to do something about it rather than sitting there an accept it. The 2:02-2:04 is from the worst memory scene in the book version. Here, instead of attacking Snape directly, Harry is early to one of his lessons with Snape and gets curous about the pensieve Snape uses to store some of his memories in before their lessons. He peeks into it, witnesses his memory, and is abruptly pulled back by Snape. My version or rather explanation to what happenes at the mirror scene in 2:14-2:23 is that Snape sees the green eyes who he thinks belongs to Lily and chases after the person with those eyes when the mirror breaks. When he catches up the person is revealed to be Harry. I think it either means that Lily is gone, but she lives on in Harry or that Harry is more than just his father. That he has more recemblence towards his mother regarding personality. Or it could mean Lily is gone, and the only one with those eyes is Harry now, and Snape needs to let go of the past and Lily.
