You need to explore more the world of progressive rock. As a kid I was first immersed into symphonic music as a very young American boy living in Vienna, Austria. Also, many European musicians, and the divide is not as great as it use to be with some of the elite musicians, they have been brought up with different scales and key, and key changes, or at least these scales aren’t really being taught in larger levels in the states. If you like guitar, Michael Schenker sounds so fantastic because of these European sounds, scales and note choices. Well that is part of it.

He throws in/combines all those different time signatures, mixes them together/stacks them and then the drums come in in their own singular world, just making it an even more complex salad of time signatures. This is one complex, very intelligent man, who is not only gifted musically, but works damn hard at creating his beautiful craft , and productions. the rhythmic language of konnokol is not unlike other rhythmic languages from say Africa or the far east or even the rhythmic language of the nordic and germenic peoples of times past and there drum and instrument music..cadences of life...i respect your connection on this as it has led you down a musical path few have journeyed.music is mysterious like that..as we unlock it's nuances and secrets the directions and paths that it creates take us into the unknown and so we use our implements to journey those paths wherever they may lead,,,some may say your music is freakish and over the top..i do not see it in that light.i hear the human connection and you are a glorious ambassador of mankind's greatest gift..and that is music..without it..we cease to exist..much respect my friend and thank you as always for a glimpse into the path that you have chosen musically.

Thos is great rythem is amazing I'm a drummer but I'm trying to get comfortable playing there rythem on the piano. I have been studying Indian rythems for a while now .but I wanted to take it a step further and use this knowledge and enjoy my instrument also. Thank you so much opening up my awareness to this great concept. Very cool I'm starting to see how John McLaughlin and other great musicians use this method and connect there music theory of modes to make Indian rythems and musical notes come alive.

I have to stop looking at the words and just go by the phonetic sounds because reading while hearing throws me completely off due to my native language pronouncing things :D Watching me some IA Eklundh while eating got me the idea how to have a working flow for a repeated 15/16 segment to actually be listenable (or rather, digestable) a lot better. Everytime you use this rhythmic words I just remember the music store in my Abuela's block where a very angry indian guy try to learn that when I was a kid. A European can't pronounce them very well. I just heard the " You need to articulate ! " If you like music mix you can use this rhythmic words with a harmonica chromatic for vamp rhythmic chords. It's sound good for the rhythmic part on a 12 blues part. It's like a clock's birds who dance on the rhythm. But you will need a bass guy to try. Because you need one rhythmic part on the groove to need to synchronized everything.

It's simple, really. He's just substituting a tradition count (1,2,3,4 "4/4" or 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and "4/8" or 1 and a 2 and a 3 and a 4 and a "12/4") with syllables that take the same amount of time to speak.
