To "Pull a Homer" actually became a thing back in the 1990's. I saw a copy of Newsweek magazine and on the front cover it said, "Is the NRC [Nuclear Regulatory Commission] pulling a Homer?"

Actually the word "sucks" was something I first heard at school when I was five. One lunchtime, a bunch of the girls started chanting "Boys suck, girls rule!" over and over and lots of the other girls (including me) joined in until one of the teachers yelled at us. I'd never heard either word in that context before. I still remember that event, even though it was almost twenty-five years ago. You know what really sucks? Sexism. And yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before, Moe is grown-up Randall. I'm pretty sure Moe came first. Recess was after Season 3 of The Simpsons. It started in 1997 and Moe has stayed pretty much the same since Season 2, which was in 1990.

It's actually kinda funny revisiting some of these episodes and letting it sink in how early some of these came out. There are episodes from this season that I swear were from seasons 4 or 5.

Thanks for the ep, and I will waterboard you with yet another recommendation for a movie, Napoleon Dynamite. Came out when I was similar age to the characters, and was real big in the school. It is based in Idaho, which is where I grew up, although I am from the north which is mountains, forests and lakes, and it takes place in southern Idaho which is largely flat agriculture. Same school system though so the whole aesthetic is super familiar and they did do a couple shots with a house I rode the bus by every day. Very comfy movie.

You're one season away from what people consider the best that The Simpsons had to offer in that era. Not throwing shade to the earlier seasons, I actually think it's worth checking the earlier seasons out because you get to know the characters. Great reaction!

Envious that this man is gonna react to the first 10 seasons of The Simpsons for the first time ever (more specifically S3 to 8) 90's Simpsons is easily up there with South Park imo despite both shows being extremely different from one another
