I recently started watching Freaks and Geeks, and it amazes me how REALISTIC this show is. I'm kind of fascinated with Daniel's Track 1, 2, 3 speech. Obviously, he uses it a second time because he knows how effective it is in garnering sympathy. But does anyone else think that it's only so convincing because it's also how he feels? And he knows that using that part of himself will get him out of the situation- genuine and manipulative at the same time.

LOL, best line of the scene, "She's a track 1 girl!!" That's additionally funny cuz after it's revealed that the "Track 1, 2 & 3" thing is a zeppelin reference, track one on Zeppelin 2 is whole lotta love I think & track 1 of Zeppelin 3 is the immigrant song....I think...I'm not 100%...I know those were both Zeppelin album track 1's though...but I was born in the 1st week of September in the year of our lord 1985...and there was CD's by then...

@Mrster i'm with you, there's a joke we're missing, it's not just her coming to the conclusion that it's a premeditated speech, but realizing track 3 is a reference to something else.

his acting is an act, thats what is funny. earlier in the epidsode, there is much exposition about how daniel can get out of anything. he is originally testing lindsay to see how his speech would work, then he goes into the conference and puts twice the emotion in the same speech.

the "humor" is being able to reflect back on high school days and relating to the experience of what Franco and Cardellini are showing. what makes it even more clever is that the characters are able to poke fun at the experience of being a teen and the drama of it all which makes them wise beyond their years probably gotta be track 3 to get it.

HAHAHA definitely the best Franco scene of the series. Especially the second time when you know what hes gonna say and how hes gonna say it but it still hits just as hard.

Are you kidding me? Her sequence of reactions when Daniel is doing the "track 1, 2, 3" speech is SO fucking amazing and when she's laughing her ass off, she's laughing like a real person instead of the usual fake laugh that most actors do.

this show isn't "supposed" to be anything. it's both comedy and drama, because that's life. and if you can't see the hilarity of this scene, then this show won't be becoming a favorite of yours anytime soon.

No bullshit...I have a lab partner who's work I always copy. Finally she got fed up with me and wouldn't share...I used the "track 1, 2, 3" speech magic on her...smooth sailing the rest of the semester.

I agree with Comickish except for one detail...the original air date of this show was in fall or winter of 1999, I was a high school freshman then... I went to my 10 year high School Reunion 2 Saturday Nights Ago...so the kids would have to be all recast, but like watching Seth Rogen & Jason Segel play high school buddies in a high school clique is one of the things that made this show

Track three on Zeppelin 2 is "The Lemon Song". He is sarcastically calling himself a lemon (because that is how they view him) to prove how smart he is and how stupid they are. This is on top of the fact that he is just playing them.

@shishiodun that was my initial reaction aswell, but then she repeats, " track 3! " as if she's just getting the joke. i think there's a reference we're missing, and i'd like to know what it is. the most obvious guess would be something related to zeppelin, but i still can't figure it out.

i know that Daniel recited the same speech but i dont think that Lindsay was laughing so hard because of that..it must have something to do with some of Zeppelin's lyric in his track 3..because at the end she's laughing while stated track 3..im not really a zeppelin hard fans,but if someone does read this,can you explain it to me..but this is scene is the bestest scene ever..oh oh and when lindsay got high..LOL! remind me of my first time
