@freckledcatcreations2 жыл бұрын
I've always wondered this myself. I'm not sure. I would assume the painters suit and duct tape aren't stretchy and can't stretch bigger than the original shape...

Y'know I haven't made much in terms of furry work for a while now. I just got back into the commission game, so I can get some extra cash to take care of my pet rats. I was watching your videos again to help me get back at it, and then I realized just how many of my habits were because of your videos. Literally, the way I start and end my stitches were things I picked up from your videos, just goes to show how good your work is if I'm still copying your technique years later

Another awesome vid FCC! Even after so many years, It's lovely to get new insight on how to do things differently in this craft and improve my own work. Thank you as always for putting together these detailed timelapses & tutorials. The paws look incredible!! I'm going to have to try my hand at making a 5 fingered paw pattern like that because they look perfect & like they have great dexterity. Question-- when you were sewing the top & palm of the paws together did you do that on a machine or with hand stitching? Personally I always have trouble doing it on my machine so I usually blanket stitch around the front & back of the paws together. Leaves a smaller seam allowance & keep the shape nice and exact. However you did it though it turned out lookin' great! Very neat to see the DTD be stuffed half way too (clearly I used WAY too much newspaper in my own... I'll have to remember to only do half of it next time ^^;...). Cant wait for part three!!
@freckledcatcreations2 жыл бұрын
I'm so happy you appreciate the detail I go into! I love putting these timelapses out. I also love looking back on them for inspiration and motivation XD I also have a hard time sewing handpaws on the machine - even the seam at the base of the fingers. it's all hand sewn! It may look machine sewn because of the lack of blanket stitches wrapping around the seam allowance - but that's because I mainly use the backstitch! :3

would it be a good idea to only sew the bottom of the liner to the wrist? that way, you could pull only the liner inside out to wash, avoiding getting the paw itself wet? just an idea
@freckledcatcreations Жыл бұрын
I had that thought, but then if it's not secured to the fingertips, when you pull your sweaty hand out it'll totally pull the liner out of place and it might be work to get it back in where it needs to be. but also, you should probably wash the fur paw as well since hands touch a LOT of things and get very dirty/germy.

@freckledcatcreations2 жыл бұрын
I would probably just make the one eye larger, and keep the design nice and symmetrical with the pupil in the middle! when carving into the foam just cut the eyehole at the middle! Your vision is probably going to be amazing :3

First, I love the video! Second- What do you use to line your heads and such? I like the patterning they all have, but I can't find anything like that!
@freckledcatcreations2 жыл бұрын
Yay thank you! I like using spandex! The 3 main sites I give to commissioners to pick their liner patterns are SpandexWorld, BlueMoon fabrics, and SpandexbyYard. Sometimes I let them get a custom printed spandex from spoonflower, but that's much more expensive.

Hello freckled cat! I’m happy you read your comments and reply sometimes or not, depending but if you do have the time to reply, I have a question! Do you. Work full time as a fursuit maker? And if so how does it feel? When I’m older I don’t know if I’ll work at a normal boring okay get paid job or I’ll work as a fur suit maker doing what I’ll dream and get random no idea what I’ll get paid job! Thanks if you even set your time aside to read this! Your an inspiration from a furry to a furry!
@freckledcatcreations2 жыл бұрын
I read every comment I get actually!! I love replying too, if the comment deserves a response! I get so much validation from all the compliments here, yall are so sweet... I guess I work fulltime hours on this if you add it up, but i already have a full time desk job doing taxes that takes up 40h a week! So maybe... I'm working two full time jobs? hard to say. I barely have any free time XD I would say don't ever count on being full time paid as a fursuit maker. it is VERY difficult to do, continue doing without getting burnt out, and to get the consistent business to make enough money to pay your rent, food, PLUS taxes for the self employed are very high. I suggest at least having a part time 'regular' job too! Only a small percent of fursuit makers can afford to go full time with no other income. I myself only made about $12k in 2022 - and that is like a THIRD of what i need to make to pay bills and live comfortably.
