Hearing a Hüsker Dü song on national television in 2024 is surreal for a Minnesota boy like myself. Amazing job. The band will be missed by everyone.

Makes this Wisconsin girl who is currently living in Norway choke up a bit, too. I love the band name 'Husker du'... it's great and a clever play on words, if you know Norwegian or Swedish.

Yes, letting go of the 8G Band "makes no sense at all", absolutely. Thank you for the music. And a thank you to the NBC executives who made this decision, I guess the song is dedicated to them.

100%. Emmy-nominated late night band gets let go? This feels personal. Like someone in the band made a comment to some random Suit and he didn’t like it so he unilaterally decided to cut everyone out of spite.
@thomastaipliadis8533
@thomastaipliadis8533 5 ай бұрын
@@marcopaulo5052 they say it was budget cuts, but it's never budget cuts. In 2022, NBCUniversal generated a $39,2 billion revenue so I don't think the shareholders would profit that much from the band's dismissal. I think your version is more likely to have happened.

@@thomastaipliadis8533 It doesn't work that way. Late Night is a 12:35am show. Its revenue is driven strictly by ad dollars. Ratings for all network shows are in the toilet, therefore advertising $$$ shrink. What NBCUniversal makes as a whole has no bearing on any one particular program. Ex: If an item at McD has poor sales, it's dropped from the menu, regardless of how much $$$ they make from everything else on the menu.

@@thomastaipliadis8533 Have you seen the ratings for shows in the 12:35am time slot? Late Night's ratings for the first quarter of 2024 were down 19 percent from the first quarter of 2023. Be glad they don't replace the show with a half-hour game show or a news magazine.

My mom passed at the end of 2018, yet Eli & the gang made a still very tough & difficult mourning somewhat bearable because of that memory! ...and if I'm crying right now writing this, it's not only because I miss my mom, but also because The 8G Band was THE best, coolest, edgiest band on Late Night!!! 💔💔💔💔...BTW thank you to Bob Mould for such a great send off (or is it eff off?) and thank you all my fellow Jackals whose comments today made me feel less alone ❤‍🩹❤‍🩹❤‍🩹❤‍🩹Today, we Jackals are howling like Wolves...

I grew up in Minneapolis and saw Husker Dü and Bob whenever they played 7th Street Entry and at more than a few South Minneapolis house parties. The Minneapolis underground music scene from 1974-1984 was a freaking blast. So many great bands and performers (Prince, The Tyme, The Suicide Commandos, Willie and the Bees, Huskers, Replacements, The Suburbs, Steve Kramer and The Wallets, Soul Asylum, Curtiss A, Babes in Toyland among a host of others) in totally accessible venues. Tone-deaf network suits Killing off Seth's 8G Band Makes no sense at all.

Wow I didn't know that NBC cut this band for "budgetary" reasons. Late night shows and bands have a symbiotic relationship. What are they going to have when the show returns in September? TV is dying because of the internet, because of the number of choices available for entertainment. The same way movies hurt radio. The same way TV hurt movies. As technology advances and options increase, you get dilution of audience, and what was once profitable becomes less so. The only things you can count on are death, taxes, and human stupidity.
