This movie was selected in 2004 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". It also ranks #90 in AFI's (American Film Institute) '100 Years... 100 Movies' list.

I actually saw this film in 2019, and was knocked out. This dance bit was just incredible, especially the fence moves. And Ginger Rogers was gorgeous. My cheapskate cable company (Comcast) is now charging extra for the Turner Classic Movies channel, the jerks ... So thanks for putting THIS up!!

I've always understood that Ms. Rogers had costume approval, especially for the dance numbers...the flow of her dresses and gowns as she dances is almost hypnotic.

The artistry is amazing - as usual from these two - but I really have to comment on the dress. Wow! It must have been silk to drape like that - almost looking like a slimline skirt and then to flow out so beautifully. I'll have to go look up the costume designer. I do love me some toe tapping Rogers and Astaire!

I know you have made a cut of the dance but the segment is made by Fred pretending to be a clutz to get lessons from Ginger and although she goes through an entire dance sequence its only after she finished she realizes she had been had. Also the volcal prior tot he dance is pretty good. Should post the whole thing!

At between 100 and 110 lbs soaking wet, Ginger's a tiny little thing. And Fred weighed 135 all his life. These are two itty-bitty, stunningly beautiful people!
