Fred Benedetti interview at the Segovia masterclass of 1986 at USC

Fred Benedetti being interviewed during the Andres Segovia master class of 1986 at USC. This was after several performances for Segovia and before his final performance for the Maestro. I will post the actual lessons in the next few weeks. This was the most remarkable event of my playing career. I was very happy that both my parents were able to be at this event.

I fully agree, technic comes first, and music after. But one got to work hard in order to refine & master his own technic, The latter is to be used for the service of the music. Building up technic is a must in order to play music, after that it's a matter of one's own ability and taste.

Hi Mr. Benedetti, I would love to hear your thoughts on this event now 28 years hence. I am especially wondering if you feel that specific fingerings are more correct for particular pieces or is self-expression more important.
