I was a carer for Fred up until his final moments and can tell you he never changed. An absolute gentleman who loved having a laugh and sharing some banter. A humble bloke who deserves a lot of praise for the journey life took him on. Rest easy old mate, gone but never forgotten.

Some of my greatest childhood memories are of watching the borough and in particular Freddie Cook of a Sunday arvo. So sad to hear of his passing.

Bloody sad to hear Freddie passed! for all his past troubles and shortcomings he always remained a decent human being especially with the fans, always had time for the little people, nothing was ever too much trouble

he provided me with many great memories at north port in the 70's & 80's. and all the other vfa grounds as well.

What year was this please ?i reckon 2010. Very good with the fans, gave them plenty of time, bantered with me a couple of times about my hair style (or lack of). Although Fred wasnt perfect and none of us are he was a very lovable person. Their was a extra buzz around Port Melbourne when Fred was at the club, in 2019 at the prelim when people saw him you would hear fans say FRED COOK IS HERE, ths delight in their voice said it all. All Port fans respected, admired and loved our lovable larrican. May Ports finest rest in peace, a truelly remarkable man.

As a Roos supporter I didn't know he would have been a North player but for Footscray not giving him a clearance.

Fred was a great player but after the footy finished he was a mean bastard and ended up a speed head big time! RIP Fred

The old VAFA was awesome loved it!! Pity the VFL/AFL went out of there way to ruin it!
@anthonywalsh7852 жыл бұрын
it wasn't the vafa it was the vfa. the vafa was the victorian amateur football association, completely different.

Amphetamines won’t increase your performance, it might be ok for 30 minutes of football, after that your heart can go into arrest, you can end up in an ambulance.
