That is the best golf video I've seen. Bravo. Fred Couples is the Adreas Pirlo of golf. Nothing's in a hurry, defines cool and smooth. He's the Sultan of rhythm and swing.
Man that is truly great mechanics. The head stability . The way he activates down swing with the right hip . The release and turn over of the club head just before impact.

That twirling action of the right wrist approaching impact and brief let-go of the right thumb and forefinger beyond impact.

This swing is incredibly unique in so many ways. What I notice from the slow mo is how relaxed his hands are on the club even through impact - his thumb and forefinger aren't even on the club in some of the shots! There used to be another Boom Boom video with classical music behind it and I'd watch that before playing which helped me focus on rhythm and it really helped

I love his swing too, but I've never thought that looking at his swing in slow motion is the way to go. He's all about tempo and timing. You can only see that full speed.
@rlevitta3 жыл бұрын
Agree 100% - but...slowmo is good for checking out that right elbow move. It looks like it's flying out on the backswing, but then he drops it straight down along with his hands to keep his right arm inside the left arm. It's not an easy move to make. I've tried. He's got lots of lag in that swing. That's where his mysterious power comes from.
@golfshoe93213 жыл бұрын
@@rlevitta That visible uncoiling and separation of the lower body from the upper just before the club reaches the top of the backswing is the holy grail in golf. I think this is the source of his power (X-Factor as Jim M. says). That very still head is hard to achieve as well...most amateur head are moving up and away from the ball.

I just recently discovered Fred Couples being playing golf for over a year now and this swing really shatters all the nonsense out there. Not only is he a single plane swing, as I noticed almost all older players are, he is also incredibly steep. With the driver there is absolutely no shallowing of the club and with irons only slightly. Its quite insane how he manages to get into impact position. Just goes to show how you gotta adjust your swing to your body, your rhythm and keep the basic principles of the swing.
