I used to sneak on that course when it was Irvine Coast Country Club, got kicked off at least 50 times by Ted Oliver who was the headpro in the 1980's, I was a teenager at the time

amazing how he gets thru the shot without raising his position. for about 20 years we have been told he is going to have to quit, and he is swinging better than ever.

He should be playing on the LIV tour

Certainly a disappointing finish to the round, but all things considered a 66 is never bad. He's leading the tour in scoring average at just under 68 per round. That's some golf, still feel there's plenty left in the tank for Fred.

Anybody any idea what the " secret " to this swing is ? Rhythm ?timing ?Loose grip, something more mystical ?

It’s sort of an optical illusion. He turns his shoulders on a different plane than his hands. It’s taken me about 20 years, but I get it now. His downswing is lead by the right elbow beating the club, and the release is underhand and not a “flip.” It’s basically antithetical to anything you will read in any golf magazine, or see on the Golf Channel….and his book doesn’t help at all. I don’t think he even knows what makes his swing work. I worked at TPC Sawgrass for years and I sat behind him for hours and hours and after about the 100th hour, I saw him do one slow motion practice swing, and I saw it. Once you mimic that one move; you can absolutely kill it. If he does know, I don’t think he would share it.

if he can get his final rounds in order then he would have won a few already this season, really missed a few chances towards the end to win it

Huge fairways, no rough, soft greens. Who wouldn’t love to play a seniors tour course? Love Freddie though.
