I'm new to Fred Moten and he's blowing my mind, inspiring my musical work. I talk here about immanence, transcendence, and the materiality of sound.

Enjoying this talk a lot, listened to it while my 20 month old daughter was putting herself to sleep by vocalizing different sounds, some of which have meaning, some don't. Not sure if that relates precisely, but felt like some elemental background echo to these ideas-- the small human slowly navigating language and using it to sooth herself, almost musically.

Very interesting video! Got nothing to add though, because I'm stupid, yet here I am. Is that Immanence?

I don't know about stupidity, but "not adding anything" could maybe be in the immanence zone?

@@charlielookerNYC It seemed funny the moment I wrote it, although it somewhat holds true that I probably can't grasp the full picture of what you're teaching about Moten's philosophy here (yet?). That said, your explanation was very thoughtful and well structured and just listening to you talk instills some kind of urge to talk and learn more about the topic at hand. Cool stuff, keep your thoughts coming! And Extra Life was tits and I need to listen to more of your shit, damnit. Cheers

@@seepia8947 I appreciate all the engagement and good words for sure. Moten is difficult. I'm just beginning to scratch the surface. I bet I'll be coming back to him periodically for years, as I have with Deleuze and Bataille. And yeah, as for my music, a lot of it is posted on this channel, so dive in :)
