In an interview, Judy Crown wasn't too happy about that comment Annie Potts made about the show winning only an Emmy for hair. But as time passed, Judy was glad she won the only Emmy for Designing Women.

Designing Women were the team that deserved an Emmy, just like as Dixie Carter deserved an Emmy as lead actress of DW much more than Delta Burke. In 91's Emmy, Burke received another nomination, but when DW came along together on stage, they were all there, but with Julia Duffy in her place, while Jean Smart was also there with her replacement Jan Hooks. Meanwhile, Burke was at the crowd watching them, even when they knew that she would receive a nomination for being part of them in the past 5 seasons.

Years later, their series hairdresser expressed in an interview how insulted she felt by the crack about her Emmy award.

Montgomery Mall that wasn’t a crack at the hairdresser, that was a crack at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for never acknowledging any of their acting work except the next year when Delta was nominated.the show’s creator and head-writer Linda Bloodworth-Thomason wrote their entire segment and was NOT knocking the hairdresser at all.
