Three The Hard Way was an absolute blockbuster in the black communities around the country in 1974! It was at least in Flatbush, Brooklyn at the time. Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, and Jim Kelly were the embodiment of masculinity and cool in that film. In my opinion, it's one of the best in the action genre because these cats were so charismatic and had great chemistry as our superheroes.

@@KevinGonzales-zv9xb That's correct! That classic film with another childhood action hero of mine, the great Bruce Lee, is what made Jim Kelly legendary! Jim Kelly was a super chill soul Brutha in that flick! He was a badass muthafucka! Black men were dominant and masculine during these years.

This is one of my favorite movies.I am proud to say that I stayed on the next street from The Hammer and he went to school with my uncle and always visits my grandparents house.Fred became my one action hero during the 70's and all the kids in our neighborhood went to the theater and drive-in to watch his movies.The Hammer is the only one left,made God continue to bless him and May God Rest Jim Kelly,Jim Brown and Richard Roundtree soul in peace.

The Big Three also made a great black western in 1975 that needs to be widely viewed by black audiences today. Lee Van Clief played the villain which is a bonus. Even Freddy from Superfly had a part in it. Take A Hard Ride is an unsung, skillfully made African American cowboy movie

So, why should I watch this just because I'm black? Is it a good movie? The skin color doesn't matter to me at all.
@heisenberg2966

“ African American “ and “ Cowboy “ is Redundant. If You Know History, you would know that, THE ORIGINAL COWBOYS WERE BLACK! With that being said, “ Take a Hard Ride “, is more Realistic and True to History, than you might think. Even Jim Kelly as an Indian, is Realistic, considering The Fact that Black People were in The Americas, Hundreds of Years before Columbus.

Fred Williamson-suaveness, Jim Kelly-martial arts, Jim Brown-gruff, toughness. This was what Fred Williamson said on an interview on Hollywood Unsung when doing Three The Hard Way, what the cast brought. The 70's seem like a time period for alpha males, this generation, seemingly not so much.

Jim Kelly's acting prowess was not that polished, but he was charismatic enough on the big screen and perhaps did not get the chance to polish his acting chops and was an import black image for that period. Pam Grier was also not necessarily a great actor during that era, but she was stunning and subsequently she did work on her craft more and had some really great roles during her post 40-ish years, but she was still a super important image for the black community in that mid 1970s era for a host of reasons, for the strength and the beauty of the black woman.
