I use to hang with Jim after training! We use to go to a restaurant called "The Good Earth" in Marina Del Rey! All the athletes would go there after their workouts! Because the food didn't have a lot of sodium ! I can still see Jim in his tennis outfit always! He was so cool and laid back! You would never know he was such a badass! Always low key and super friendly! I miss those times and Jimbo sooo much! Rest in peace Jim I will always remember you and those times! May you're memory be eternal! You're old pal J... fitness is only one aspect of staying well. There are many others that have to be practiced too, like reducing stress and protecting ourselves against toxins in the environment and even in our own bodies. Everything we do seems like a risk , but we really just have to count our blessings, be grateful and keep moving .Peace!

Like the previous comment, I met Jim Kelly at a restaurant near Pico and Overland called Earth, Wind and Flour in the early 90’s. He sat in the booth next to us. I whispered to the lady I was with, “that’s Jim Kelly. She said, “Who.” “Jim Kelly,” I repeated. Anyway she was clueless. As a rule, I don’t approach celebrities and living in LA since 1980, you tend to see some occasionally. But, this is JIM KELLY. My childhood John Wayne. Black kids didn’t have many (probably zero) black action movie stars in the 60’s. It wasn’t until my early teens we were able to start rooting for a black kick ass hero. So, after my date and I finished our meal I introduced myself and complimented him on his work and how much I enjoyed it as a kid and he was very polite and soft also looked very good, fit and healthy. I was very surprised when he passed. Looking back on his movies as a working writer now, they are pretty cheesy but I’ve met many celebrities my 40 years in LA, but meeting JIM KELLY is by far one of the most rewarding. Thanks for being a part of 3 popcorn action packed theater going movies in a row and only for a dollar memories. RIP Jim Kelly.
