BFBB actually only had one year of development with a very low budget. Source is one of the devs who worked on the game who reached out to me after my run in AGDQ

Thanks man and yeah more specifically the guy I talked to was responsible for programming spongebob's movement and tongue-boarding. He worked 65-hour weeks for this game which was way over what was expected of him. The guy didn't have much of a hand in TSSM though as he said he only worked on the Neptune fight. As for the info you received, maybe that means the game was expected to be finished before 2003 so they were given a year from late 02 to 03? Not sure but it's interesting that we heard different things from different sources. Crazy how much passion was put into the game to make it as good as it was though.

I've always *LOVED* how the SpongeBob movie game looked. So when I started watching this video, the frame rate and graphics looked WAYYYY better than I remembered. Then when I saw the comparison with the GameCube version, I immediately knew why.

I remember the first ever console game I got was the gamecube version and was in love. I was shook to find out just a year ago that I could get the game for Xbox and play it in HD. I never would've noticed the porting problems really, goes to show how fun the game really is!

Jstar yeah even if they wanted to, I think there’s like a whole world of Licensing issues since the game used Paramount. I could see it slightly though, I say this because of the recent success of BFBB Rehydrated, as this game is the Sucsessor/sequel, people might want something similar. Either way, I’m curious to see what’s next in the world of spongebob gaming after BFBBR, If they couldn’t do the movie but wanted to do another remaster, what would it be? I don’t think they would remaster another, but I’m dying for another spongebob game like BFBB. Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, and Lights, Camera, Pants, seems unlikely, creature from the krusty krab seems more plausible I guess but, would they? Idk saying “I could see it” is reaching. At the end of the day no matter how sucsessful BFBB is, It’s a 16 year old movie game. Why would anybody bet on that.

Oh my God, YES!!! Thank you for reviewing this game! I love this game and remember playing it when I was little (I'm 15 now) and watching your video gives me nostalgia. To be honest, I love this game but I personally think the BFBB is better just because this game is base on the movie which means it follows the plot of the movie, which means if you've watched the movie, you know how the story went. However I must admit playing SBTMG gives you remarkable experience. I do remember when I was playing this, I got really scared in the Shell City Dead Ahead since the introduction of that laser shooting robot monster (that thing's so hard to beat) and you can imagine how terrified I was when entering Planktopolis that I got my brother to finish that part, hehe. Also I was really scared when the battle theme started playing. Yeah, I know I got scared easily when I was little. But I have to admit this game is really hard, just like you said mostly in the Krabby Patty driving level. I got stuck completing some of them. And I was also having trouble sliding Neptune's crown. But yeah this game was really fun. I really wish that I could play this again, but I don't own any console anymore. I don't remember what happened with my brother's Playstation 2 and I certainly am not going to buy another console any time soon since my family need to save money for important things. Anyway I really appreciate if you took your time to read my comment. I really love your videos and please keep doing more and more. I'm also still hoping that Heavy Iron would make more Spongebob Squarepants games. I played Heropants at my friend's and it sucks.

if you have a pc dolphin (don't worry dolphin made gamecube have 60 fps on SBTMG), and Pcsx2 can help if you don't like using emulators then ok your choice but you did said you want to play it again but not buying the things for it

I've noticed the problems on GameCube. But on Xbox, it's fine except the framerate actually drops some on that version and it's a little zoomed in to the point where I get disorientated especially on slide levels and towards the end of the game. I'm so used to the PS2 version and it was hard getting through the Xbox version because of the zoomed in problem

Nice review, though I think not being able to warp to challenge panels is still annoying. I don't like having to replay certain parts of the level just to come back to where I was before. That is the least of this game's problems, though. Anyway, I'm going to be as objective as I possibly can. This game had more padding than necessary, an issue that is even made worse with how linear the storyline is. Every time you gain momentum, the game would stop you in your tracks and force you to play something else to advance. The pacing is just poor, which isn't surprising, since the game was made in about a year. They had to make it longer. However, the interesting thing is that the amount of completion required to beat the game is almost the same as in BFBB. The ring challenges can go fuck themselves. They are not hard for the most part, just tedious. If you mess up, you have to start all over. They should have either added checkpoints or reduced the amount of the track that you had to cover. The driving challenges aren't objectively horrible, aside from the slippery controls. Subjectively though, they're BORING. The spongeball challenges are challenging but not interesting. The floating block challenges are all right. I never had a problem with them. The combat arena challenges are annoying. There's so much shit that gets thrown your way, and it's hard to avoid it all. Anyway, this game is okay. It's not terrible, but it's not great, either. BFBB wasn't perfect, but it was better than this game.

You forgot to mention that the GCN port also suffers from the game getting stuck on load screens, forcing the player to reset the console. There was also a re-release of the PS2 version on the PS3 for a short while but it had audio syncing issues and input delay issues which is why it was taken off PSN. I have the PS2 version and I love this game, maybe even more if I played the XBOX version. No wonder why I've seen negative reviews though; most of them seem to be based on the GCN version. btw u know ur early when what you see in the comments are triggered people spamming or people saying how the video "takes away from reality and the audience" which makes no fucking sense

Dank God I also have a Gamecube copy which never had the loading screen problem, but it did have the audio glitches in the saving screens (very minor issue in comparison though). Believe me, I've played even shittier Gamecube ports of good games (*cough* Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow *cough*). I might still pick up an Xbox copy to play on my 360 though. :)

I always preferred this game over Battle for Bikini Bottom, mainly due to the fact I was never that interested in collect-a-thon games with a hub world (i.e. Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie). Though i'd say my favorite Spongebob game has to be Lights, Camera, Pants.

Nice review. When I first played this, I enjoyed it more than BfBB. I liked that it was a bit more difficult and I liked the move upgrades. I kind of want to return to the game and beat it 100%, which I never did as a kid. Some of the macho time challenges were too hard for me and I didn't collect all the treasure chests, since many were kind of difficult to find and you didn't earn Goofy Goober tokens by doing getting them (in the same way you could get golden spatulas for Patrick's socks in BfBB).

Good points: Faithful to the source material, graphics are nicely detailed, the soundtrack is great, decent controls (especially the spongeball which controls better than bfbb), more challenging than battle for bikini bottom Bad points: The slideshow FMV’s are poorly rendered and makes the presentation look more cheap than anything, the backtracking (not the idea that goofy goober tokens are required for moves as then the incentive to collect them would be diminished but it’s the fact that the game is structured in a way that certain mini games like the time trial and ring challenges are more mandatory) and the goo ball enemies in particular feel like they halt the gameplay a bit as you have to stand and wait for the projectile to come to you to fling it back twice or even three times in order to defeat it, and the boss battles (aside from king Neptune) are a bit too short and easy

I noticed that the GameCube version however you'll get stuck at the loading screen because you have to turn off the system and turn the system on again which it's very annoying that makes the GameCube users are pissed.

The Movie Game is essentially a more linear hard mode version of BFBB Its like envision a version of BFBB where they fix all of Patrick's Shit Combat Gameplay but you can't cheese enemies with movies like your Cruise Bubble or Sandy's Rope God Patrick Cartwheel is the best new attack they gave Patrick in this game its basically like a sprint button much like Spongebob's Charging Run in Creature from the Krusty Krab

This was something i noticed so when King Neptune gave our heroes a 10 day reprieve something told me he knew how long it would take so patrick goes he can do it in 9 and then Neptune goes 8,patrick goes 7, Neptune goes 6,and when neptune chokes patrick and he says 5 and then SpongeBob says patrick shush so when they went to the sign it said shell city 5 days away by car so essentially they would of had the 10 day reprieve and got back home in time to rescue mr.krabs but patrick basically wrote off mr.krabs without realizing it.But I'm glad they got the crown,beat the cyclops,beat Dennis and freed King Neptune

WAIT what the gamecube copy i own is inferior...guess i gotta find an xbox version. my copy also has images from the movie for the cut scenes. why is that
