Freddie Mercury was a man of many talents and many different sides. The songs he wrote for and with Queen filled stadiums around the globe and have rightly gone down in history, but he also embarked on a solo career that took him from the clubs of Munich and New York to the great opera houses of the world.
He was the ultimate showman, but he kept his private life away from the prying eyes of the media; a larger than life rock star who loved disco, classical music and ballet. He was a restless spirit, a true chameleon who revelled in his own contradictions.
All the different sides of this iconic musician can be found on Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles. All formats released September 2nd 2016.
This was Freddie Mercury's third single from the 1985 'Mr Bad Guy' album - his first solo album. Filmed by Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher, it was shot entirely at Henderson's Nightclub in Munich, Germany, on September 5th and 6th 1985, as part of Freddie's unforgettable 39th birthday celebrations. The single was released in the UK on 2nd September 1985.

Because that's how Freddie faced his troubles all the time, as people say. He never cried or complained on his life. He always smiled and moved on. Even in his later days, when he definitely knew that he singing his last songs, he never complained and even talked about it, as Brian said. When Brian and Freddie were writing the song "Show Must Go On", Brian said that he wrote it about Freddie. He was that clown, in which his heart is breaking from the inside, but his smile is stayed on him. It was very hard for Brian to look how Freddie goes through it. And as he said, he never told to Freddie "you know, that song is about you", and Freddie never asked "Hey, Bri, who is this clown?". Both of them knew what the song is about and no words was needed. So, show must go on. I think that's why Freddie made this song intensionally this dancy, because probably he wanted to show, that you have to meet all your problems with the smile on the face.

It's stupid to say "he wasn't truly happy", he had authentic moments of pure joy and extazy that you can associate to real happiness. You can feel this positive energy in a lot of songs he made ; if he hadn't found sometimes real happiness in his life, he would never have been able to write such music. But, of course, this joy and happiness weren't permanent ; he also had his moments of pure loneliness and pain, for sure. I remember when I was a kid around 7 I used to hum to this song. I grew up in an Spanish speaking country so I never knew what the singer was saying but I absolutely love the song. It got stuck in my head all these year. I had no ways of looking on youtube or google cuz I had not a single phrase or something to start the search . Anyways, at a friends house I saw this google hum app (i was unaware it existed) and the concept was simple. hum or whistle and the app will guess the song. I did that: "da da da da da da da dAaAa da da.. and so on" and then this song came up. Im so happy that finally after all these years Im able to hear it again. My 6yo daughter also loves it. Just wanted to share this.

Infact he wasn’t alone. He always had Mary by his side and was very close with John, Brian and Roger, too. They always described their relationship more like a family than „just bandmates“ even through times of trouble. But on the other hand he had some very bad influences, too. I don’t want to mention anyone at that point but PAUL PRENTER always tried to separate Freddie from the rest of the band in many ways and also kinda pushed him more and more into drugs and stuff like that. So actually the movie was pretty correct at that point of the story. And yeah if you stay in bad company for a longer time you start to feel alone and unloved pretty fast.. and maybe cannot see through all the lies these people told you because of course you’re still thinking these people are ur friends. ♥️👨🏻✨
