"Gambia, little Jamaica" as a Gambian born, that makes me proud. We really live for reggae. I remember back in 2000 when Freddy visited the newspaper I used to work for for an interview. The reporter was mad excited that Freddie gave him his picture to keep. I wasn't that much heavy into reggae then so didn't get it. Now,22 years later, I'm going to see Freddie live in London.

Unu always welcome here in Nicaragua, me hear Delo was about to talk about Bluefields, Nicaragua but him Got cut off. Our culture is same as the entire Caribbean in the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, the food and tradition as well. We have all type of people and we speak patwa as well down here, so we understand unu perfectly when unu a speak. Me happy seh unu exploring these areas. Most people think that only Spanish speaking people deh yah but we also have black people down here. Me noticed say only spanish speaking girls was inna di video as well, a think unu should a did put some a we black gial dem too😔 but well, the tune is a hit and nice, no doubt about that. We been listening to dancehall and reggae from way back unu would a get frighten what we know. A met and speak to beenie man, duane Stephenson, kipo, munga, angel doolas. Them know all about us as well, we also have artist down here with lot of talent singing reggae and dancehall, very talented. me myself back then use to perform but the country nuh support we so we left our dreams and move on to something betta that can provide fi we family. So imagine how much impact unu have down yah so. Bless up me bothers and we hope more dancehall and reggae artist can come, unu always welcome here. One love👊🏾🇳🇮🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥

So many countries around the world live and love Reggae, Dancehall and soundsystem culture music. So many genres have come out of Reggae. I feel like they need more production crews in Jamaica to help influence the sound. The music will live on all over the world as the blueprint set by Jamaica is being more embraced than Jamaica sadly. It's a shame the Jamaican govt doesn't do more to help the industry. 🙏🙌

Good morning winfred. You are concerned about the future of our reggae music, but if everyone keeps looking at each other and asking this question It Is obvious we are failing. You have a potent platform which works hand in hand with the music industry so I believe you should use your platform along with the most prominent artists in the business to lobby the government to make the changes the the industry needs.
@TROYD96692 жыл бұрын
Qustion, what can onstage do differently than what they are doing now.. In my eyes it's what the artists bring to the table they play to the world
@dalelawrence10752 жыл бұрын
@@TROYD9669 it’s not only the artist why makes reggae music what it is, so the people who are in the position to encourage the rest who are heavily involved needs to use their platform and social media and say to the government or the useless foreign minister they have to do more to protect the music.
@TROYD96692 жыл бұрын
@@dalelawrence1075 onstage as been doing that for years even in this video he said it, he keep on asking the young artist to own their craft be more professional in what they do hold on to their heritage and culture because that is their identity in the global world of music so tel me what more can he do if the young artist not listing to what he is saying all they want to do is come onstage to promote their type of music. The only next thing they can do is stop interviewing them and its we that going to bash onstage for not believing in the youths and this is why I ask the question what you want onstage to do.. We as Jamaicans around the world as a lot to do with what the music industry come to and that is just the trust.
@dalelawrence10752 жыл бұрын
@@TROYD9669 I understand what you saying about the young artists and their part, but one of the reason I mentioned onstage is because in Europe there are a lot of reggae festival festivals every year and in Jamaica there’s no festival to represent the culture and is why i am saying the likes of onstage along with other people should come to gather and lobby the government, all they have to do is solve the problem in Jamaica.
@TROYD96692 жыл бұрын
@@dalelawrence1075 onstage been doing that for years asking the government to allow more stage show to keep in the country and they show case most of the show that happen in Jamaica to the world its the government need to do more for the country and the youngs need to hold on to them roots

Jamaican reggae music loved so much by the whole world but loved more when no Black Jamaican involved...the real reward is not for Jamaicans we do not even realise the monetary control they have over us ....our music changed from black empowerment to black destruction .... infiltrated and conquered with our support because money is the ultimate controller of everything

So on a real this brings the Afro-Caribbeans and Africans an Afro Latinos as one people and we grow stronger when it comes to genres of music that was created by us black folks
