I’ll always remember Freddie with great fondness and respect. The laughter he brought to millions cannot be taken away from him, he was a unique entertainer, he didn’t deserve what happened to him and I for one have difficulty believing what he was accused of. He once spent the night on my aunts floor after a late gig in Birkenhead, he was just an ordinary bloke thankful to have somewhere to stay, have some tea and toast for breakfast and then on his way. He was a broken man when he died, it still brings tears to my eyes when I think of him, how he lived his final days. R.I.P. Freddy 🙏🏻

I'll never forget one night, back in sixties Liverpool, when I was in a band called The Pikkins. One evening we were setting up down on the Blue Angel cellar stage when our pal, Freddie Starr, appeared, got up, and sat behind the drum kit with huge grin. We all started laughing and carried on with getting ready thinking that that was it. To our surprise, Tom Jones wandered in and offered to sing a song. As soon as we started playing the intro to 'Good Golly Miss Molly', Freddie started a cacophony of noise, bashing the cymbals and the drums while laughing his head off. Soon, everyone was laughing except for Mr. Jones who climbed down off the stage and marched out.

I grew up being entertained by Freddie for so many years. He was the people's comedian; famous for being entirely unpredictable, which was why he was so good to watch. Unfortunately the false (according to the court) accusations made against him led to his early demise. It's such a sad story. I'm glad he has been repatriated to Liverpool... another of Liverpool's comedy legends. RIP Freddie 🙏

As a warden of a church, id advice to ask to speak to the warden of the church their number would be on the notice board and asking them where he lays. Or you can donate a little to the church and they will let you look at the records to find his burial plot. Good luck maybe for next time.

Hi Paul, You may want to research Prescott Parish Church, Liverpool. I do believe he was buried there along with his parents under the family name being Fowell. This was to avoid the general public due to his unfortunate events. The headstone was not removed at the family's request, it was just done in secret. Finally, KZbin do allow links to be posted and will only refuse to do so if there is a threat towards privacy. Unfortunately, you could have done Stuart Sutcliffe's grave whilst you were visiting St Michael's. The joys of headstone hunting, keeping going and good luck!

Freddie became one of the icons of entertainment. It was the media that destroyed him and deprived millions of people world wide of his zany antics and humour. Thanks for trying. Freddie Star should be remembered. I say he is classed as Britain's greats entertainer for the period he was with us because of his tremendous range of talents. I say this because in the 1970's I was one of those darts mad players and I tell you that not even a hurricane could delay a darts match, well Freddie Stars first Telly Show did just that, it was on in another room at the club where the match was and producing so much laughter that those darters not 'at the hockey' wandered off to see what was happening, long story short, they never returned and we all agreed to reschedule the match so we could watch that show. That is the first and only time that happened to my knowledge, not even King Doddy or Tommy Cooper did that and they were comedy gods. In the 80's Freddy always rented a house near me for the summer season and he saw me out in one of my old classic British sports cars and stopped me for a chat, we became 'seasonal' pals, like many of these TV Stars of that period he was very nice, very friendly and so awesomely funny. It broke my heart when they attacked him and took him from our telly and I feel sad that his grave has been removed/lost, I think it is a good thing you are doing, aside from the fact that grave yards are a pleasant place to visit finding these peoples last resting place is good for the remembrance of our lost Stars. I when and had a walk around Carlton and said hello to Jimmy Clithero, where you showed his remembrance tree used to be in your recent post.
