So pleased to see you visit this cafe Freddie. I've been an advocate of this place since recognising the passion and attention to detail of its two Persian owners. On my last visit I mentioned (kindly) that the quality of their cutlery was disappointing... When I returned yesterday, it had been replaced by much better quality knives & forks, with which to enjoy their perfectly cooked eggs benedict and bacon!

It has been probably 27 years since I saw London, and hand on heart, I can honestly say, I don't miss it, especially it's traffic, one Iota.... When I lived in Manchester I used to do Courier work, which involved running to London, and it was always a nightmare, I dread to think what it's like now some 27 years later. Here in Alabama where I now live, if you see more than six cars in a line, it must be rush hour..... 😀

Hey Freddie, I live on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, not far from Grenada. We have about 48,000 people and about 110,000 when you add the three main islands together. Same issues with finding a bike and parts and shipping costs, however the duties and imports related fees are nowhere near as high as 80-100%. Maybe 10-25% depending on the country of origin and the weight of the bike. I have been successfully using People Like US for a year since you mentioned it. Incredible concept! My wife says PLU is genius and gives me all the credit. I told her Freddie is responsible. Now I’m off to dive into Bond films. I get some of the most excellent guidance watching your channel. Many thanks to you and Monikia for these terrific videos!

Nice video. & nice part of London too. Here in Northern Australia we know that an hour or so away a new imported motorcycle will cost 4 times it will here. Weird when you consider the Indonesian average wage. Back here, for some reason, those keen on vehicle robbery and Toyotas by far, stay away from, you guessed it, motorcycles. Hi Freddie, that’s The Upper Richmond Rd, East Sheen. Back in the ‘70s, opposite where you were, was Geoff Dodkin’s Velocet, where I bought my first bike. Mr. Dodkin, ex-racer, taught me how to ride it. There was also a Yamaha dealer about 4 doors up, towards Richmond. I’d like to say that my first bike was not a Velocet, but a Honda. That part of the world has a lot of good memories for me.
@FreddieDobbs29 күн бұрын
What a fantastic insight! This is a little snapshot in history- I need to see if I can find some photos online of the old Velocet dealer 🙂 glad this was a little trip down memory lane
@m2menuiserie54028 күн бұрын
@@FreddieDobbs Please, Freddie. It's spelled Velocette. They made everything from the humble LE Noddy bike (watercooled, horizontally opposed twin) to the fire-breathing Velo Thruxton. Only high priests of the occult, of whom Geoff Dodkin was one, knew how to adjust the Velocette clutch. PS As a student at Kingston Poly in 1972, living in a condemned house near Richmond Park, I owned a brand new Kawasaki 750 triple. In those days, bike theft was almost non-existent.

Happy memories of walking around central London. And the night life….London was awake when the rest of England was sound asleep. Two friends bought Bonnevilles in London to tour Europe. Rode them to a friend’s to spend the weekend with and ready themselves for the tour. Chained them in the side yard to a drain pipe. Woke up the next morning and they were gone. A London street gang of six monitored certain bike shops and when seeing fancy new bikes leave they would follow them to see where they went. How was that known? Having good insurance my friends secured replacement bikes and left on Tour. When in Austria a month later they got a call from the insurance company who said they had retrieved one bike. Apparently one of the gang members liked the bike so much he bought it from the other 5 guys. Who subsequently stole it from him. Not knowing who stole it he called the cops!

The gentlemen's story on getting a bike to Granada reminds me of ordering from Freddie: Swedish customs charge me for more than the stickers worth. And held it for 4 weeks for some reason. Brexit and all of that.

This is so annoying, huge apologies! We’ve recently (about two weeks ago) changed our delivery company for stickers, so this should be sorted now. Our tool rolls are all shipped from Belgium so they’re ok, but I didn’t realise the stickers would attract customs. We cover any customs duties, so just ping us over an email to hi@thelibertatia.com and we’ll reimburse you 100%:) If you do have the customs form with receipt, please do attach that (if you’ve binned it, no problem).
