Santana is a land Rover made in Spain by Santana automoviles, they manufactured under license land Rover, the factory was locate in a city called Linares in Jaen. They also made a model called Suzuki Santana. The genuine guachinches are in the north of the island , they are wine harvesters and open their small restaurants for a season to sell their own wine, the best guachinches are in La Victoria, Santa Ursula, los Realejos y La Orotava

Hi Freddie. I'm from Tenerife and I've been enjoying your videos a lot. It's fascinating to see the land I've grown in through the eyes of an outsider. I hope you keep posting more videos, it is really enjoyable. Anyways just wanted to say the fruits you see at around the 10:25 mark are papayas. They are really popular here, not as popular as bananas, but you can find many papaya trees in the island. Thanks for the video and I really hope you are enjoying your stay here!

@@FreddieDobbs Good morning Freddie, just listened to your latest podcast...the only downside to recommending classic bikes is the new high ethanol fuel (E10 - google it and it's devastating effects on older engines) in the UK , destroys the carburetors and rubber parts in the fuel system and other parts within the engine very quickly...this is probably why you are seeing so many of them that appear to be a bargain price now! just a thought...I love your podcast, listen to it on the way to work.

Love your quality videos since you were in the UK. It was funny to discover one day you moved to my home island!. Interesting to see it now through others’ eyes. But I still rewatch some of your former UK videos, planning to ride there one day. By the way, the legend says that the origin of “guachinche” derives from English “I’m watching you” that the first British importers said to local farmers when they wanted to try samples of local products. And surely there was always wine. In time it gave the name to the shops that serve local food and the year’s wine. Kudos to Monica for her awesome camera job . I’m a Harley rider ; )

"Fond" memories of the Vauxhall Nova which I learned to drive a car on. I learned and sat my bike test on a Farncis Barnett 225cc 2-stroke Cruiser which has featured in one of your English vlogs at that garage with a load of vintage bikes. Cruiser it was called as long as you liked cruising at 55mph. 60 was its max speed if you were lucky facing downhill with a following breeze. Well that was a feature cafe in the middle of a banana plantation in a hgih-density fast turnover place! Always interesting though.

If you're after a quick bite and a cortado somewhere more 'authentic, (if authentic is the right word in this context), may I suggest popping over to the Cafeteria BP Las Americas on the TF481 between Playa and Costa Adeje. No tourists, no English on the menu boards, good food if you're hungry, nice relaxed atmos. And they serve beer on tap. Also a regular stop off for the local police to pick up their bocadillos. Hey, so it's a petrol station with a cafe next to the forecourt; how many tourists are gonna consider going there?

@@mrglide7078 A simple 'yes' might have sufficed but considering I've only been here 6 years and average 25k KM per year living and working around the South, I still contend your directions make no sense and it seems Google maps agree :-) As regards petrol stations and cafes, TBF, it's difficult to find a petrol stn without at least one cafe attached and I'm constantly surprised how busy they all are considering how poorly the locals are paid here.. They are our version of a greasy spoon. Sadly Disa has gone down the gentrification route and shutting them down and replacing with 'fancy' cafes which are over priced and usually quite empty.. Either way, your recommendation to tourists and others to push past the Brit bars and restaurants is good advice but I suspect will fall on deaf ears to 99% of the Brits who come here for 'Blackpool in the sun' 2 weeks and nothing more...:Whatever your preference enjoy :-)

Any restaurant with a menu in several languages isn't really a locals 'Guachinche'. The lamb as nice as it is, is a tourist trap as much as anything else. I always say "go for the scenery and atmosphere rather than the food" but as a tourist it's worth a visit. For a proper Guachinche you need to head up the mountain some. . However as you're both veggies I doubt they really appeal to you both and they struggle to comprehend why anyone wouldn't want meat.. You're better off at a proper vegetarian restaurant but you know this already I'm sure.. As regards loaning a bike. My Z1000 A2 (78) is awaiting a part which should be here in a few weeks and you're more than welcome to have it for a day when it's fixed.
