I admit that when Wolverine's opening was the whole 'real from bones to teeth' line, it pissed me off. Mainly because Wolverine actually WASN'T. For those who don't know, Wolverine was originally introduced as a mercenary who was hired to hunt down the Hulk. Both he and Sabretooth even had the same powers: Enhanced senses and regeneration. His claws came from a pair of high-tech gloves he always wore. In other words, he was quite literally the comic book version of Freddie Kreuger with a Jason Voorhees-style healing. Marvel later changed his abilities and added the whole Weapon X connection when Stan Lee decided he'd be a good fit for the X-Men franchise.

@@SearcyX He was always a mutant, but its the origin of the claws that changed. While I mostly agree, our shared opinions are irrelevant to my original statement. For example, just because Disney recently flipped the script and rewrote Wolverine as a homosexual does not change the fact that he had been married to five separate women, numerous affairs with others and has had three children--not including his various clones.

@@SearcyX Yep. According to Marvel's new owners, Wolverine's been gay the whole time and the reason he flirted with Jean was to gain Scott's attention. Its all part of this new series of retcons to show how 'they embrace changes in our social climate'. That's Disney for you...Ruining our childhoods, one character at a time.

I hope so. Unfortunately, its a goddamn lose-lose scenario. its hard to reject it without sounding like some kind of homophobe, ya know? They did the same crap with Carol Danvers (former Ms Marvel, now Captain Marvel). Why can't those idiots fuck around with the new characters instead, huh? Damn social politics...
