The old masters have forgotten more than we can ever hope to learn!

I remember when I was with my father in his tiny workshop looking while he is repairing home stuff or building his home or garden innovations. Last days I am with my 94 years old father in the hospital where he is fading away. I remembered this video from few years back. Returned to see that again and got wet eyes.

A little early but... Happy Birthday! Freddy, quick question. I'm making a Standard Les Paul and thanks to your amazing Les Paul build series I have started using Hot Hide Glue. My question is this, could a book matched top be joined together with Hot hide glue? advantages/disadvantages? Thank you!

I'll relay the message...thanks! No advantage to hide glue for les paul top. The working time is so short, you have to be fast as lightning, with not much time to adjust alignment etc. The critical thing is that the joint is tight, so when all is done, you don't see a black glue line. There is no issue of strength, creep, or tone in that joint because it is insignificant compared to the huge area of the entire top being glued to the body. Good question though...thanks!

Hi Freddy your dad has a wonderful accent could it be Polish roots ? Cheers Andrew and wish him a happy birthday from me and stay safe. Ps I liked your lost it posts. I used to have endless patience with clients but it starts to wear thin sometimes. I think it's called getting older and not putting up with everything thats thrown at you. Cheers Andrew
