I was 12 years old when the Earthquake hit yet I remember it like it was yesterday I lived in East Oakland at the time in the Fruitvale area. I remember just thanking god my parents were no where near the Cypress especially my Pops who was a delivery driver for a car part company in Oakland at the time he would cross it almost everyday luckily that day he didn't have deliveries in SF or Berkeley area he got out early from work that day.

I remember my mom left SFO airport five minutes before the earthquake, mom was very lucky to leave before the earthquake, she watched it on the plane and she was stunned, but grateful she left before the earthquake.
