Susan Dey was my first celebrity crush. I was deeply in lust with Laurie Partridge. And of course, the Mr. Magoo commercial was a "double celeb" ad, since Mr. Magoo was voiced by Jim Backus (for you kids, think Mr. Howell on Gilligan's Island.) On the Carol Burnett Show, they did a great parody of the Robert Conrad battery commercial featuring Tim Conway as the "knock this off" guy. (Instead of "knocking it off," Lyle Waggoner just punched him in the face.)

These are an interesting mix of nobodies before they were famous, and on the other end of the range, current stars making celebrity endorsements. In between are people who had been famous but were no longer important enough to warrant being identified by name when they did an ad. Viewers would recognize most of them but might not remember exactly who they were.

oh gosh today you cannot advertise toy guns on TV for fear it gives kids the wrong idea however a gun dealer can sell a real gun to a .minor without asking for some type of identification. what gives here? guns do not kill people. people kill people that is true but what needs to be done is that the gun sellers should thoroughly check the buyers profile for any serious .mental problems and if they find anythings do not sell them the gun okay

Mr. Magoo enjoying a Stag Beer and the smooth crooner, Mel Torme riding a rocket while singing about those Olds 88's. My first memories of Mel was getting the short end of the stick on NBC's Night Court. Rod Serling smoked like a chimney (that's why he lived such a short life) so doing a Forest Fire PSA seemed fitting. Steve McQueen, the Viceroy Man. What a time.
@slimdudeDJC5 жыл бұрын
Please bear in mind Serling wasn't the only one that chain smoked. John Wayne and Steve McQueen did as well (who both died of lung cancer almost the same year, I think) and so many other Hollywood actors/actresses. Those who didn't were considered oddballs. Time has brought about a flip, and for the better, health-wise. Yeah, they made bad choices but they weren't necessarily bad people.
