The radio does have bandpass filtering for 15m. It is a very clean radio. (Harmonics -58dBc at 15m, which is the worst case on that radio, it's better again on the other bands). So, it's all good on the HAM bands. 73.

Nice to see the progress of the layout of the boards! I use a SuperStar 3900 (2023version) and although the boards are totally different, there are similarities in design! Whether these are the result of technical progress or silently the same manufacturer I leave in the middle. Couple of weeks ago I had a solid contact with the UK with the SuperStar, in my car with a simple antenna... I was really amazed! I have the CRT older version. The radio performs so well but I find that the bounce on the channel - frequecy control most frustrating also the fact that you lose the set channel frequency when tuning in frequency mode. Now if the channel frequencies stayed put (looks to be fixed on the new radio) and it had a proper weighted vfo control (the control now looks a bit better), what a radio. Great video by the way.

If you like a radio with a very high noise floor , to where you can't hear half of the signals coming in, then this is the radio for you. I live in a very quiet qth, not a lot of RFI. All my other radios that I have have a very low noise floor. I love working weak signals. This radio is going back to radioddity.
@mostlypostie14 ай бұрын
@@straightpride451 I have 3 of them, with no noise floor at all. S0 to S1 on a quiet band. These radios are far more sensitive than any traditional radio of this type of the past, So my advice is to find what is causing your issue because it's going to be local to you, or in your shack, and not the fault of the radio. The other thing which is always the case, is regardless of your signal metre reading on that radio the signal to noise ratio will be better which means it's still hears better than your other radios. (Close your eyes, don't look at the metre, And I bet you still hear things better than you do on your "quite" radios). 73.

@@straightpride451 I read your post perfectly fine. Did you read mine? Give my suggestion a try because these radios only receive what is really there. There is also an RF gain control to use if it's a problem for you. And yes, They are far more sensitive than radios that have come before it. 73
@CB-RADIO-UK4 ай бұрын
Having owned a few CRT versions i can confirm that with the RF gain on max the radios "show" a high noise level. However if you want the meter reduced you just back off the RF gain a little. Performance wise the noise in the ear is the same as any other radio. However i do live in a built up nigh noise area so cannot say if its the same in a quite area.

Fred: I need to ask your opinion on this Radio, I I respect your opinion, you have been doing this a long time, I go back to the days when an Antron 99 was $49.99. LOL. I just bought the QT80. I don't know if this is a typo. In the manual under RF Gain Control it states, Turn it clockwise to increase gain and anti-clockwise (counter-clockwise) to reduce gain. If one turns it clockwise, it goes down to Of and I have gain, if I turn the RFG counter-clockwise the numbers go from 01-48 with no gain increase. Seems kind of backwards. Please advise. I have better gain keeping the Squelch up and using the pre-amp on the amp.

I just bought the Anytone 6666Pro, and it has the same weird problem. The RF Gain control display is backwards. Fully clockwise it says "off" but it's on max. Bizarre. I don't know if that could be fixed with a firmware update perhaps. It's annoying because I love the radio and don't really want to send it back for such an odd flaw. Then again, it seems like the manufacturers are unaware of it. Perhaps it'll be solved with a firmware update. I've emailed Anytone to let them know
